And in the case of the the custom run B&A Berks, the actual delivered models match the colors as shown in the pre-order art work. I do not understand why some people are upset, especially since the customers don't even have their locomotives yet. Nobody can understand why you’re always itching for a fight, when it comes to your beloved Lionel,……so for now on, instead of entertaining you, I’ll simply ignore you and let you go pound sand. I have been nothing but respectful to you and kept my comments focused on facts and yet you have engaged in personal attacks against me throughout this thread. I am not defending Lionel, I am just asking a logical question: How can you say the paint scheme on Lionel’s locomotive is wrong when no one knows what the prototype looked like and the model delivered looks just like the pre order art work?

Curiosity got the best of me, so I searched for 31 Ford Brewster green which I believe is the consensus 'correct' color. What comes up are a number of pictures of actual ford cars and die cast models of Ford cars. The interesting part to me and the reason for my post is that while the majority of cars had bodies of the car painted in the darker hue color of Brewster green, the spoke wheels to my eye look like they were painted with a similar color green which the Berk is painted which is called Resada green.
I also found one model of the 31 Ford body painted Resada green and with a larger surface to view to my eyes it is pretty close to the color of the B&A Lionel engine.
It is not in my expertise to say which color green is right or wrong, I just found this an interesting side bar to inform the dialog not incense passions.

Too add insult to injury, Mr. Muffins had spec out a Pantone Green more like the MTH Hudson and that's not what we got. There's a package at the front door. Pic tonight. Video tomorrow.

If not for the fact that some purchasers are disappointed with the color, the whole subject of paint selection/proofing/final product is interesting to understand even on a superficial level.

Heh, guys.... this Berkshire came out exactly the way we asked Lionel to make it - and with all of the detailed piping in black, the various trim details, and I couldn't be happier with it. We posted the Lionel artwork for this piece as soon as Lionel provided it - no surprises. We were not trying to duplicate the green on the MTH Hudson, but will do that for the Lionel Hudson custom run we have announced. This Berkshire follows a paint scheme that was done earlier and also duplicated in HO in brass years ago. Lionel requires a minimum order quantity of 40 pieces, and we made 65. At the time they shipped to us we had advanced reservations for nearly 80. If you've received one and are unhappy with the color, please send it back for a refund. BTW, if you do like it, the matching caboose will be here about Thanksgiving, and the 8-Car matching passenger set will be here next year.
For custom runs, all three manufacturers provide pretty clear documentation of what they are making to the buyer, in this case, me, including the Pantone color specification. It's hard to make a mistake.

I just read through this thread for the first time and I'm appalled and disappointed. The personal nature of many of the comments are unacceptable and must stop. What's worse, this is an argument about a locomotive that no one knows if it ever existed? There are no photos and no proof that the color is wrong. I will be keeping an eye on this thread. No more personal attacks.

Remember, we may not all agree, but lets respect each other and their opinions. There are right and wrong ways to be objective. Lets be adult about it.

Here's my pics one with flash the other without. It looks much better in person. So with that said I like it and it will be even better. The only negative is the shiny running gear. Don't like shiny running gear. But a good weathering job and this this will pop.
So again I will give 100 apologies over. I was wrong. Video tonight if I don't get to many kids.

ok I just love it when I find a screw in the packaging. One of the air compresssors is bouncing around. Also the roof hatches are on backwards but were easy to flip around.

If you wear sunglasses, the photo to the right should be just fine, as a reasonable representation of the actual color. I suspect most folks will not run their trains under flash intensity light, unless the Area 51 idea catches on.

The good, the bad, and the ugly. Just be glad these are not automobiles or you might hurt somebody. But then you found the screw! Things are looking up.

I'm glad you're happy with the color. Seeing it in person is always the best. Enjoy it!

Isn’t that what I have been saying in this thread all along that the cameras and different light affects how the colors appear in a photo and you can’t judge these locomotives until you see them. I got a lot angry push back for saying that and it was not fair. Yet, now it looks like everyone has circled back to what I was saying all along.😉
