I'm not seeing much difference in these colors, maybe a slight yellow-caste in the Lionel shade...: ...but not much. Is this a fantasy scheme, or did they actually paint at least one green. no disrespect to anybody but people need to get their eyes checked. The HO model is nowhere near as fluorescent as the Lionel one. Now Pat may not have to do a full repaint on mine. A good weather job would probably be good enough. We’ll see when I do my video when of my engine arrives.

My eyes are fine...maybe if someone posted a decent pic in good lighting we could see what folks are bellyaching about.
The color looks pretty close to the rendition Mr. Muffin posted on your thread on that other site.

For those of you that are happy with it as is, THAT’S GREAT!….enjoy it and have fun, As I’ve mentioned several times now, it don’t cut it for those of us that actually model this arena …..and if we pay top dollar for a model, we’d somewhat expect top dollar research, top dollar accuracy, and a top dollar finish. Finish, meaning the entire job, not just the sheen,……My only real rub out of all of this is how ( specifically two dudes ) Lionel emphasizes on their research, and how meticulous they pride themselves when they put on their cute little shows with all kinds of images of the real locomotives, the history of it, etc, etc, and then they deliver a toilet. …..period…..

Its not a cop out, its called science. Colors will look different in photos based on lighting, the material the color is resting on and camera resolution. Here are more facts: - You have never seen a real B&A steam locomotive - You have not seen a Lionel B&A Berk - You have no knowledge by which to form a judgement - You didn't order one of these locomotives, so you really don't have any grounds to complain I’m the one that’s going to be fixing them buddy, …..so yeah, I got plenty of grounds to complain & discuss,…..question??…..does Lionel give you a royalty to be their major cheerleader?…..if not, they dang sure should!…. You are going to be fixing them? How can you fix them when you don't even know what the correct paint scheme looks like? And since I assume that you are not doing any work on these locomotives for free, it seems like that you have a financial interest in making sure everyone is "unhappy" with their brand new Lionel Boston and Albany Berk so they will pay you good money to "fix" them. That sounds like a major conflict of interest here and it explains why you want everyone to upset with their new locomotives. You are planning to profit from everyone's manufactured up anger.

With all due respect, that’s uncalled for. I know Pat well he provides his service and believe me he’s plenty busy already fixing all of Lionel’s other mistakes doesn’t need this at all.

It looks like you are getting exactly what you ordered. And you cannot compare these photos unless they are right next to each other in under the same light and using the same camara. That is common sense.

No it is called for, especially after he has spent this entire thread trying to convince everyone how bad the paint job is on this locomotive. A locomotive, that I would remind you, has not even been seen in person by people here. And yes, it is suspicious when the guy that will "fix" your locomotive is the same guy who is trying his hardest to convince everyone that is it "broken." How convenient.

Ok, seems you are in a parallel universe, or something and there’s just no reasoning with you. It’s trains it’s not life altering like to paint good don’t like to paint return it or get it repainted. It’s not rocket science.

Fellas, please, this thread has taken on an unnecessarily negative personal tone. Can we please just wait until someone, anyone can put eyes on the real engine and provide an opinion. Let's maintain a healthy and polite perspective, please.

I've got no dog in this fight, probably shouldn't have said anything in the first place. The color is clearly outside the expectations of a few customers (meaning it's not the color they expected, but not necessarily inaccurate, and possibly not at variance with the conceptual images presented by the manufacturer). Scale color is an extremely difficult thing to do well. Color in the bucket is not what it looks like on the 1:1 subject. We know this from reading five decades of angst over the 3-rail industry's presentation of the Pennsy's "Brunswick Green". Personally, I like the idea of weathering the bejeebers out of these...if you're truly into "modeling", then that's the way they should be.
Apologies to any I may have offended.

It's rubbish, pure mythology. There never was a green B&A Berk, just the ramblings of one or two broken down old guys in the 1930s that Smith included in his book "Berkshire Days on the Boston & Albany". It's been refuted by a number of B&A historians. There are no drawings, no photographs, no shop orders from W. Springfield, nothin'. You're arguing over vapor.

The guy who used to own a hobby store in Warren mass, who remembers seeing these green engines as a kid. The witnesses I’ve talked to at NYC RR historical society who witnessed them when they were kids. Sadly most if not all are long passed now. What about the one or two B&A J2 Hudson’s that were. Allegedly painted green. do any remember the person named Les Line? One of the original members of OGR. He research the matter and worked with K-Line to produce the Berkshires, sadly he’s long gone . well we could argue/discuss this until the cows come home. We’ll never know.

Guys, let's try to redirect this thread away from those who can't pleasantly hold a conversation. So to that end, I found this image of the original K-Line green Berk on which I thought this Lionel A1 Berk was based. The image comes from a May 2016 CTT article that was a "look-back" to the original article in October 2004 CTT).
In addition, here's a link to the CTT look-back article...
To my eyes the above photo along with those in the linked article have more of an "olive" Army Green appearance to it. Very close to the green used on Steve's custom-run U.S. Army Vision Triplex. Certainly different than the shade/hue of green in the HO model... and not quite as strong as the delivered 2024 Lionel Legacy A-1 Berk. There's something very soft and pleasant about the 2004 K-Line model IMHO... SKU# K3670-1407CC. In any event, I do believe a subtle weathering job could replicate the look of the K-Line model quite nicely.
