Great job Adam. It looks fabulous especially considering this is your first attempt at painting and decaling.

Side 1 is done. After the micro sol and some time to dry it looks really good. The decals are also down on side 2 (as shown below) and will go through the same process as side 1. Much smoother this time. I found I need to soak the decals in the water a bit longer o they slide off easier, minimizing breakage. Though the very tip of the stripes that go to the nose still broke off and I had to puzzle it back together. Other than that, smooth sailing this side.

Adam, That is the frustrating problem with decals, timing and breakage. Glad you have it all together. Good luck on side two. Alfred

I agree, good job. What are you going to use as a clear coat? Glossy or semi-gloss? Personally, I would go with a semi gloss.

Brian convinced me to keep it more on the glossy side. The two refurbished engines in existence look more glossy. Here she is after one light coat of clear. One more to go down and done! And here is the 4268 with the glossy finish that I am modeling, well, sort of.

Looks great, Adam. A good clear coat will definitely look good on your decal work!
Curious to see it all together…

Adam, I came across a listing of these books and thought you would be interested. The synopsis of each sounds like there is much detail and images respectively. Alfred A History of the Boston and Maine Railroad: Exploring New Hampshire's Rugged Heart by Rail by Bruce D. Heald Boston & Maine Trains and Services by Bruce D.
