The gloss finish looks wonderful, Adam. Hope the over-spray of the darker color works.
Fun project to follow.

BY GEORGE!!! I THINK I'VE DONE IT!! The color is close enough for my liking and I think it looks great! I have a matte finish spray that will take some of the shine off. Once it is all done it will do a coat of that as a finish. Next step, let it dry for a week or so, remove the tape (after cutting around the edges with an exacto), paint those parts black. After that is all done and dry, on to decals. For that I will seek advise from the collective brain trust that is the OGF.

That looks great, Adam.
Just remember, the engine you are comparing it to, has a flat or satin finish. It will make the color look slightly different, but judging by the work so far, you are on the right track.
The gloss finish will be excellent for decaling! Keep it that way until you are done decaling. Then use a Tamiya clear coat. Either flat or plain clear will look good.

This is a perfect example of sticking to it. Yup, the color is now excellent. Personally, I like the gloss look, but that's juts me.

Please do, Adam. You want it to look like the North Conway Railway version for sure.
Do you have the graphics yet?

I do have the graphics but haven’t opened them to take a look yet. That will be this weekend. Your the man Adam. I admire a persistent person that doesn't know the word "quit" and keeps on. I know many frustrations were in your path, but you stuck through it all and will have a top-notch runner on your layout and a learning experience to conquer the next project. Thanks for sharing this project from beginning to now along with all the problems. You have also I'm sure given encouragement to others. Can't wait to see final project.

Thank you Walt! I appreciate the kind words of encouragement. I really want to learn these skills because this is the part of the hobby that brings me the most joy. The better I am at it the more I will enjoy it.
And thank you to every for their advice and encouragement.
Any tips for the decals beyond what has already been shared would be much appreciated.

Adam, Remind me of where you are with the mechanical/motor aspects of the project, Thanks. Alfred I’ve decided this will continue to be a dummy unit that will pairup with one of my other B&M engines, the SW9. Prices for powered units from which I can steal from are through the roof.
