Some very nice engines but priced out of my range. At the moment I have enough locos on my layout and in fact wish to sell a few off. With that being said some of the accessories caught my eye. I always wanted to get the rocket launcher gantry accessory but didn’t want to pay the ebay prices…..glad to see Lionel is offering a new and hopefully improved one with a better smoke unit…..might have to create room for that one! As far as buying another cab control system, I will have to pass, especially operating one from my phone. Just hope my Cab 2 holds up over time for now!

.... I'll be interested to see it, if only for details that I don't already know about the CAB3 system (especially its price!) .... As I mentioned when the new command system was previewed, it IS compatible with current Legacy CAB2 remotes. That's now mentioned several places in this catalog.

Any idea what tooling the 44 tonner is? I assume it isn't traditional-sized? Looks to be a williams variant?

Ah, that is a considerable selling point, although I do not know how, technically, it will be implemented.

Question is why do I need the CAB 3?

I am having a tough time discerning what detail differences are on the Class A for the post 1945 variant. Does this pilot really just have a square hole in the pilot were the radiator is supposed to go? This would be the one I would favor...

Well we knew prices were heading north, and sure enough... here are a few price points that caught my eye. I'm sure there are many more...
- Coil gondolas with a $120 MSRP... and $10 more for the graffiti version? Thank goodness I built my inventory of Beth Steel coil gondolas years ago when Atlas-O offered their offerings. Actually, I can say that for just about EVERYTHING.
- And how can I not mention Bobber Caboose offerings for $120 MSRP. That's as absurd a price-point as eBay shysters selling MTH Bobber cabeese for $119-$149 -- little gems that were at most $55 new when MTH delivered them.
In all fairness, dealer prices will mitigate some of the MSRP absurdity. But still... I really feel bad for enthusiasts who are hooked on this new stuff in the catalogs every year. To think I once had pre-order lists that were a mile long back in the day. I'd go broke doing that now. My advice to peeps is "buy selectively" and buy at train shows where NOS and collection-thinning goodies are MUCH more attractively priced.

Ironically Lionel is going to release the whistle steam on K line tooled Berks this time... they missed it the first time and really ticked off some guys. My favorite is the SP variant. Simply awesome looking: By the looks of the boiler though, may have to send off to Harry to have the front smoke box painted correctly

Oh man, I may be interested in the new Cab3. One of the main drawbacks of the bluetooth app is that it limited you to controlling one Lionchief engine at a time. The Cab3 solves that while also allowing those of us who have yet to purchase any Legacy engines do so in the future.
They have a few legacy engines now that will handle 031. The Legacy Atlantics look good and they have one in B&M. The Strasburg 0-6-0 looks cool too.
Darn it!! Was hoping to not want anything from the catalog. Why did I even look.

These Atlantics are well done... I am not a Wabash fan but this set is amazing looking and the cars are really different looking...

I am not a fantasy paint scheme kind of guy but this one is going to sell out quickly: MTH made some cool stuff.

As far as the Diesels go. I really like that they are bringing back the F7's: The yellow bonnet scheme is intriguing. But I really like the older paint scheme:

Just thumbed through the new Lionel catalog. While there is some nice stuff illustrated and I can certainly afford buying anything there, the prices are just more than I wish to pay. Am I the only one, not seeing value there?
