I know prices are up but I am very curious on what Lionel is going to release tomorrow. I know the Vision line Class A is number one on my list... The Lionel Website did not have any introduction to the new catalog tomorrow and no countdown? Just the last catalog shown.

... The Lionel Website did not have any introduction to the new catalog tomorrow and no countdown? Just the last catalog shown.
Aside from some folks quoting Ryan Kunkle that Lionel's new catalog is due out on Jan 14th... and it's supposed to be the largest ever... not much else has been said about it. I recall reading a post by a West Coast dealer that a big portion of the catalog will only be available online. Only what was referred to as "heavy metal" items would be part of a printed catalog.
Of course... none of this came directly from Lionel... so who knows what's really gonna happen.
I was excited to see the Class A mock-up on display in Lionel's booth at York. But now that its rumored to need the new Legacy w/CAB3 app for full functionality, I don't need to be the first on the block to spring for this. I'm sure it will have a HEFTY price tag.
I don't think the Class A will be the only Vision Line offering, because another dealer asked me if I'd be interested in another locomotive if he offered it in a special-run livery. I won't divulge his confidence, so I'll see tomorrow if other liveries of this locomotive are in the catalog as regular production offerings. Should be interesting.
Bottom line... I expect this catalog will have TONS of expensive offerings... much like last year's catalog. LOTS of big-ticket product with MULTIPLE roadnames/SKU's. But Lionel runs the risk of overtly competing against itself if that's the case. Just looking at last year's catalog(s), the amount of big-ticket products delivered in December/January/Feb is ENORMOUS. In those 3 months alone, Lionel has delivered -- and is in the process of still delivering -- numerous passenger sets, 2-10-10-2's, Mohawks, Pacifics, and Veranda Turbines among other goodies.
We all have our limits... and I honestly can't see springing for too much else in 2022. I have a few rolling stock goodies already on pre-order with MTH, as well as a really cool Lionel offering with METCA. And I know I'm gonna want to order SEVERAL of the OGF 2022 "club car". THOSE ARE REALLY GONNA BE COOL -- especially after the grand slam OGF ES44 locomotive!!!!
Seriously... it doesn't take much to spend $1,000 on new train items these days. And you can usually carry that out of the store with just one hand. A full cargo bay of trains in the SUV could set you back BIG TIME. And that's if you even have space for them on your layout or in the train room.
Bottom line: SELECTIVE buying is now the order of the day for me.

Although not a big spender ill be looking for smaller legacy steam, I love the larger steam but not anymore. The consolidation coming this spring is just the ticket for us guys that want smaller steam.
I hope everyone gets what you would like to see made, it should be a great catalog.

Someone posted what appears to be the cover of the new Lionel 2022 Catalog on a Facebook group page. Not surprisingly, it features a composite image whose foreground is the flagship O-Scale Vision Line N&W #1218 Class A locomotive coming out of a single Pratt bridge... and the background contains real-world trees in a field amidst early morning fog.

Even with their recent and not so recent faults, I will be a Lionel fan, but sadly they have priced me out of their market for loco power. However, I always enjoy a new catalog.

Any idea what tooling the 44 tonner is? I assume it isn't traditional-sized?

Huge variety of items. Over 200 pages I'll be interested to see it, if only for details that I don't already know about the CAB3 system (especially its price!), but otherwise this is mainly an exercise in satisfying my curiosity. Even allowing for inflation, these products have become very hard to contemplate on the price front. I do wonder what is next in their recycling of past models agenda and whether that discloses anything in the way of new operating features.
