Just scrolled through it. In O there’s $2,200 Big Boys and $100.00 box cars. But nothing that appeals to me. Interesting that they’re expanding the HO line with reasonable prices for now, but no HO locomotives.
Ho hum . . . 😔

High prices, no QC, and lack of parts has disillusioned this life long Lionel fan. Nothing for me.

Here is a switch. I am concerned about the colors in the catalog! The UP diesels and the LionMaster Daylight cab forward seem off to me.

Here is a switch. I am concerned about the colors in the catalog! The UP diesels and the LionMaster Daylight cab forward seem off to me. Forrest, the catalog colors have now pretty much become meaningless. Some colors like the Pennsy green have been off for decades... the catalog illustrations can NEVER seem to depict the correct Pennsy colors. But now more than ever, it's important to see what's actually DELIVERED. On the flip side, you might miss out on a locomotive with a little-known roadname if you don't pre-order. So that's the BTO double-edged sword these days, and things are what they are.
Having quickly browsed through the catalog just now, there's nothing additional that calls my name beyond the two goodies I saw in the LCCA video: the Bethlehem Steel Genset switcher and the Reading & Northern 4-6-0. I'm hoping that the Beth Steel "yellow" comes through in production the way a scale model should -- not like the way in which Lionel recently delivered their scale auto-racks, where the yellow looks cheap. We shall see... but I'm hoping for the best.
Overall, I feel like I did years ago when I cured myself of Atlas-O's "reefer madness". It really feels WONDERFUL to page through these catalogs now, and not be tempted to buy something on every other page. I was blessed to be able to do that years ago when I did. I was admittedly part of the enjoyment factor, and I have no regrets whatsoever. But I've turned the page to a new chapter in this great hobby now. And I'm fine with that. I'm sure a physical copy of the catalog will find its way to our home one way or another. But if it doesn't, this is a catalog that I could easily live without. So I'm not going out of my way to grab one at a local hobby store.
For those of you who are still in "buying mode", I wish you all the best... and I hope the delivered products meet the high expectations that these catalog images are so often good at setting. Enjoy!!!

Interesting that they’re expanding the HO line with reasonable prices for now, but no HO locomotives. Ho hum . . . 😔 Yeah, same here. This catalog is really no big deal compared with the hoopla preceding it. But BTW, Vern, I did not see any new $2,200 engines of any kind - sorry if somehow I've missed the whole point of this effort! I do know that previously cataloged Big Boys and EM-1s are arriving soon. It isn't worthwhile going into any detail about the contents I did see although there's an awful lot of E7s in various configurations and the reappearance of Pennsy S-1s. Also dual motor Lionmaster Cab Forwards reappearing in various paint schemes but only with Lionchief2 controls. So that saves me the effort of thinking about them even though there's one version I like. Anyway, far more interesting for me was what Howard Hitchcock said in the LCCA video streamed a couple of days ago. He was a lot more upbeat about control system development, particularly adapting to the Bluetooth 5 standard, and Apps being able to access a wider range of engine features, than when I last heard him hold forth. Not a guarantee that there will be some kind of tablet/smartphone-based substitute for the CAB2 but enough to make me think again about sparing my CAB2s extra use and trying the App (whatever exactly it's called). He also referred to ongoing sound enhancements, which is encouraging as that's always been Legacy's advantage over other systems. Of course dealing with QC and resolving factory issues were referred to, but carefully with no acknowledgment of any particular past issues. The previously cataloged big engines' arrival will be an acid test of whether there's been any real improvement. Fortunately, I am just a spectator as far as that goes.

.... The previously cataloged big engines' arrival will be an acid test of whether there's been any real improvement. Fortunately, I am just a spectator as far as that goes. I'm patiently awaiting the arrival of Lionel's "Blue Goose" Santa Fe Northern. If it's a good match with MTH's Blue Goose passenger train from several years ago, I might spring for it. Those Santa Fe Northern's were quite popular in their day... with GREAT Railsounds and Whistle. But with Lionel changing their factories -- seemingly every other month these days -- there's no guarantee that re-issues are gonna be anything like their former glory day production runs. So we'll find out what we get when containers arrive in NC.

I am interested in the grey Pullman cars. Will fit right in with my Portland Rose consist. Those are probably a go. Tempted by the UP genset. Now with two motors. The LionMaster Daylight cab forward is calling, but probably not a go.

Typical re-action over the past several catalogs, zippo. Not a bad thing, though.

Sorry harbor and forrest, you’re right. They are 2-8-8-2s, not Big Boys and $1,900 ($1,899.99), not $2,200.
I was scrolling through it way early this morning and must not have been fully awake yet. 😳 Still a snoozer for me though. Like Joe, I’ll stick with eBay. 😉

Very few offerings suitable for a Christmas layout. I believe we will see the return of the Christmas Catalog this Fall for the first time since 2017.

WELL, I JUST TOOK A LOOK AT THE NEW LIONEL CATALOG. I DO LIKE THE S1, BUT, I DON'T KNOW IF I LIKE IT ENOUGH TO BUY. MY CHOICE WOULD BE #6100. AS FOR THE USRA 2-8-8-2'S MY CHOICE WOULD BE THE PRR #377 AS I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE ANOTHER PENNSY STEAMER. THE DIESELS, THE ATLANTIC COAST LINE E7 AA SET I REALLY DO LIKE!! THE NEW YORK E7 AA SET,(BLACK), REALLY LOOKS GOOD AS WELL. NICE TO SEE THE GENSET SWITCHERS BROUGHT BACK. NOT DIECAST, BUT, THEY DO LOOK GOOD. AS FOR ROLLING STOCK I WOULD LIKE A FEW MORE PS-5 COVERED GONDOLAS. I WAS HOPING FOR A JADE GREEN NEW YORK CENTRAL AA SET. ALAS, NO JOY. WILL YOU LOOK AT THAT...MY CREDIT CARD JUST SMILED!! Gary.
