When I got tossed for the third time I asked for an explanation but AA said it was one of their volunteer moderators that made the decision and he had no idea why nor did he offer the name of the so called moderator. I suspect that the individual is well known and gets special treatment.
Prior to getting tossed AA kept insisting that I get a digital membership which I never did. That's terrible but all too typical. Just stay here.

I guess I am in the minority here as I really enjoy the OGR forum Dont really care how it is moderated I met literally thousands of people through the OGR forum Friends with many I found my club through a post on the OGR forum. What everybody should realize that the operation of these forums isnt free That why hats, special run cars and fund raising drives are done here. OGR also has a magazine to support which is way more expensive than a forum so why should I get mad at them for asking for a subscription to participate in the forum And Dave it really isnt true that there wasnt any forum in the early 2000's The Model Train journal was just as big as OGR Their claim to fame was it wasnt censored like OGR was Most members were outcasts from OGR They called OGR North Korea and insulted the moderators at OGR all the time It was OK until two idiots really ruined it There are still a handful of regulars there including one of the idiots

I'll agree with that, Ben, MTJ is a husk of what it once was. I still post there on occasion, but sometimes I wonder why.

It just occurred to me, the guys that were kicked out, but were brainwashed to stay away from us. Sorry I have too much time on my hands.

OGR was great, but so many good people have been shown the door over simple mistakes, sometimes with no explanation, no second chance. Sorry but I’ve been left with a bitter taste in my mouth over it. You can have your OGR, good luck.

What I would really like to know is this - how many of us rejects can still see their profiles? I’m still there, all my posts in full view including (I assume) the highly offensive railroad photos gleaned off the internet…(gasp!) How many of us are OGR zombies? 🧟🧟♂️ 😉 Do a google search with your handle and see…

I was an OGR member that was not kicked off. I decided to leave of my own accord. No doubt there are some really good people like member lblueline4 on that forum, the crew from NJ Highrailers and others but a true forum supposed to be a place where the free and open exchange of ideas and opinions is accepted. Not so over there. Members are required to support the advertising agenda, beliefs and thoughts of the forum owner. Post a truthful even one time negative experience with a product from one of his advertisers and you are jeopardizing your membership. With all due respect that type of a system is just not for me.

That is so not true Dennis I count 8 forum sponsors that have banners that I have given negative experiences about over the years on OGR Nobody told me to change my post or kicked me off They were truthful experiences

Not is it a problem that he sets some rules to keep things somewhat civil. The problem is that his rule enforcement is arbitrary, secretive, and hugely unfair. The biggest example is the pompadour hair wearing and 2005 corvette driving manager will not only seemingly ban people for unknown and arbitrary reasons, but he will keep the funds from paid magazine subscriptions of the people he banned. The magazine subscription is supposed to be separate from the OVR forum membership. So people here are a bit fed up with being banned for no good reason and then have to pay for magazine subscriptions that they will never receive! The good news is that people are realizing that OGR is not the center of the O gauge hobby (OGR doesn’t even bother with York) and they are realizing that you can get all the information you need and make new friends and have FUN without the silly OGR drama and over moderation.

So you must be in someone's "good graces" over there. Certainly OGR isn't gonna cross you, when you're their gateway to your fabulous club in Patterson, New Jersey. They'd be foolish to walk away from that connection. But if the right person "complains" about a negative review, don't believe you're immune for a NY minute. Too many fine people have been given the boot over there. WAY too many.
When I see you again at the Allentown ATMA show, stop by my booth... and I'll tell you EXACTLY who complained to whom in my case, when I posted a less-than-favorable product review. Somebody over there was careless enough to leave the complaining sponsor's comments in the email they sent me, which I thought was highly unprofessional. But then again, NOTHING surprises me anymore.

Even though I was shown the exit a few years ago I still visit the forum. Still a lot of good info posted there and it is cool to see other folks layouts. As far as the MTJ, a nasty forum to visit if you are a MTH supporter. Bill www.youtube.com/user/seayakbill
