They booted me off because I used the American flag instead of my mug shot. AA acted like he was a Pat Daddy. Cant argue with a idiot. This is the best place. Like home

Like home That is one rule I never did get. They want a pic of your real face but you can make up any name for your handle. So how is that being personable? Why one and not the other. Go figure. For what it's worth they can run their forum anyway they see fit. Glad I'm not a part of it anymore.

This campaign of purging OGR members with minimal reason and explanation is just a money grab.
I am hearing reports from former members being offered their membership back if they subscribe to a paid OGR subscription....practice is indicative of a failing business.
I don't know how a forum about model trains became so divisive.
The vast majority of the OGR members are great people, it's too bad their management is so toxic.

When I decided to return in the O gauge model train adventure (now 25 years later), I searched some interesting international forums on the subject, and discovered very few dedicated to O gauge, notably tinplate and semi-tinplate. Most of them are in fact Model Trains forum which have an O gauge section, but usually rather modest compared to the HO and N scales sections... I saw this one : ogrforum.ogaugerr.com/ , that you call OGR here. It looked quite interesting, but the principle of the magazine compulsory subscription deterred me. Moreover, the presentation and ergonomics of that forum, rather unconventional, not to say messy, gave the final blow to discard it. I was not aware of the peculiar moderation management of OGR forum before reading that subject, so no regrets, finally ! I choose OGF, then. Smaller, but friendler - don't get me wrong though : big and friendly about forum is perfectly possible, have a look to www.gretsch-talk.com/ , decicated to Gretsch guitars. On OGF, when I asked for input and knowledge, I had relevant answers and useful explanations from many members. Given that I am French native, it's sometimes difficult to explain my purposes correctly in English, and also understand the replies fully... So thank you Guys ! OACE

I got that same offer if I ordered a subscription I could post on the forum again. Why should I have to pay to be a member of that forum!!! I asked for a apology first-----crickets!!! Surprised, not really!! Dave

Little big man strikes again!
My expulsion is fairly well documented in previous threads Pity the Poor Moderator, and My Christmas Gift to Lionel. Other than that I have only this to say.
When I was expelled I was told that a number of alerts about my final post had been made because as AA put it I was clearly trying to stir up trouble. While I was told it was not Lionel who complained I was never told what category of member had sent out the alarms. I was obviously person non grata.
Frankly I don't care. Who wants to be where they are not welcome or cannot express their opinion in a civil manner?
This is after all not a Franz Kafka novel about inducing phobias for doing nothing wrong. It is a forum about model trains fun, frolic, companionship warts and all; many times but not always Happy Land Excursions.
We return you now to our regular programming which is far more interesting than the aforementioned antics of you know who.

Our humble rank and file are only too happy to see you here 👍👍 Let’s see some of your O Gauge layout work!
I was disinvited after I’d just paid a subscription and got one of those infamous, very wordy replies to my complaint explaining why I wasn’t getting a refund. What I don’t understand is their idea that somehow they’re a closed shop that people should be paying a subscription for - any Google search will bring up any subject on the forum. 🤷🏻♂️
Rant over, as you were! 😉

Their rules seem very arbitrary but up to a point I can understand why/how Alan is trying to leverage the OGR Forum as a resource, which it undoubtedly is. However, the way he's gone about it just puts people off, which is why a lot of them have ended up here where support and participation are voluntary.

WOW! Thanks guys. I didn't expect such a response. Of course! On OGR, you are expected to be a compliant Ompa-Lompa working to make money for the pompadour wearing, 2004 Corvette driving, OGR manager. Here, you are among friends on a fast growing and dynamic forum.

WOW! Thanks guys. I didn't expect such a response. Why not? A lot of us saw your posts "over there" over many years. Banning you on some pretext is just crazy,

When I got tossed for the third time I asked for an explanation but AA said it was one of their volunteer moderators that made the decision and he had no idea why nor did he offer the name of the so called moderator. I suspect that the individual is well known and gets special treatment.
Prior to getting tossed AA kept insisting that I get a digital membership which I never did.
