My experience with the UPS store here where I live is to not use them for anything fragile or worth money and NEVER let them do the packing unless you watch them pack it. I trusted them and they put a mint Williams Texas special set I had sold to someone on ebay in a box with no popcorn or any other packing material to keep it from moving around. Those Williams sets are just shrink wrapped with a thin plastic. So by the time it arrived it had busted out of the plastic and everything was loose and open with cars rolling around in the box. Fortunately, the customer was very nice and did not give me a negative review after I explained to him what had happened

The Teamsters just signed a new 5 year contract with UPS.
UPS says that by the end of the new contract, the average UPS full-time driver will make about $170,000 annually in pay and benefits.
Maybe there is a good reason why TRAINZ ships with FEDEX

I don’t think a UPS driver’s salary had anything to do with my box being diverted to the fraud center. But the good news is there was a new shipping label created for it on Friday. Fingers crossed!!

Finally Brian your York stash will make to your home in California, we hope!! Dave Yes, we hope! That’s all I got until it safely arrives. I know it was packed very well. The last few York Meets my boxes were packed so well I had to pry the trains out of them! Hopefully the box handlers don’t have butterfingers!

Well, I got the bad news this morning. My box of trains and related items I bought at York are gone forever.
According to the guy at the UPS store that shipped packages from York, the facility that was holding the packages for fraud alerts “disposed” of the packages after an unknown period of time. No contact to the people waiting for them or to the store that shipped them. My only recourse now is a claim for the items I had shipped. However I was told to send them a list with prices directly to the store to be reimbursed for the contents. Not through the UPS website. I asked them to email me the process he described so I could have a reference to respond to and to have a record of what happened.
Apparently this happened to all the packages shipped from the York Meet. He was in the process of calling all those that shipped items from the Fairgrounds. It sounds like the store is going to take the hit for this fiasco. Now the wait begins to see if I ever get my money back. I’ll be looking for alternatives to ship my purchases from York in the future.

Brian,
You might want to let TCA National, and TCA ED in on your troubles. That way TCA is aware of complaints headed their way, and maybe they change to FedEx in April. You might be able to get an article in Headquarters News too.

Sorry to hear how this ended up, that really sucks! I was following closely and hoping for a good ending! I got a lot of sympathy for you over the whole situation.

WOW Brian, I can't believe that happened. I am sure you will get all your money back eventually. Keep me informed. You might not see that UPS store back in April.

I can’t believe this happened! It sounds crazy. UPS should pay you and everyone else they screwed over and do it as quickly as possible.

A friend of mine who is a disabled veteran started working for the post office about 2 years ago. It is a low paying job despite his experience, but was the only one offered, so he took it figuring he will work his way up. In my town, where there are tons of very qualified people including veterans; he told me how the post office here ONLY hires the FRIENDS of "hiring managers". I will leave the rest to your imagination (cough). Unqualified friends, who like the fast food workers you see at some airports just don't give a hoot about their job, their customers etc. Just give me a paycheck, you might get the food u ordered that has not been tampered with, and don't u dare look at me the wrong way or point out the mistakes I am making. Hence, back to the post office here. It is no wonder they deliver to wrong addresses, lose parcels, damage parcels, etc. Now having said that, the mailman we have had here for a long time is great. Its just some of the other employees being hired as FRIENDS, with no care in the world except give me my paycheck and don't you dare speak or look at me the wrong way. Sigh.....the ever lasting decline of western civilization.

This whole thing sounds crooked; I just can't rationalize any sensible reason something like this (suspicion of fraudulent shipment so it goes into the bin) should happen. It's just nonsensical to me.
