Well here we have the beginnings of the transition of a room heretofore used exclusively to listen to music into a multi use space to accommodate the layout.

Well this is embarrassing. The photos I took portrait are on their sides and the photos that I took landscape are the correct orientation. I tried to delete the post but to no success.
Can the moderator delete this and I will start from scratch please.

Don’t worry about it. This is a problem with thumbnails on this forum. But if you click on the thumbnails you will see the correctly oriented photo.

Thanks for the encouragement Adam.
The first photo is of the music listening room after it was prepped for the layout. Notice all the records lining the wall.
The overall layout will be at least 12'X12' with the possibility of extensions to go beyond the lolly columns at the other end of the layout.
The system that I selected is the Bora Centipede. The photos show a single Centipede unit 2X4' long. then you see the top in place with a very simple attachment system which I will show next time. Bora makes several sizes of this table/workbench however I selected the 2X4' size for ease of set up and carrying/storage. But that means more joints.
The gap you see between the table tops is 2-3" wide and 3/4" deep. I believe that Fastrack can span that w/o difficulty. It is somewhat bothersome and I have a solution for that in the works.
If there is a problem with this system it is that it does not allow access to the underside of the 'table' due to the supporting members. Consequently I will have to place the scenery/building layouts in stages in order to have easy access. I do not have what they call a 'bar room reach'.
Right now I have added two 'wings' to the three original tables, the photo shows only one. the more realistic town/passenger station will be at this end of the layout.
The next row of tables will be perpendicular to the first set to stagger the joint gaps.
Please excuse the lighting as it was configured for music listening and not necessarily visibility.
Better lighting will be forthcoming for these photos.

Chuck, your photos orient correctly when clicked on and look great. You have 3 options, you can continue with this thread, start a new thread and leave this one alone, or I can delete this thread and you can start over. If you want this thread deleted let me know and I will delete it.

I never noticed the pictures being upside down because I automatically Click on the thumbnails. They look great. The tables look interesting. Looking forward to more pictures.

Thanks Country Joe. In spite of my best efforts I seem to have done OK anyway! Let's leave sleeping dogs lie! Thanks

As part of the layout scheme I will have a village Main Street w/ train crossing and train station w/parking lot. I need to place some model cars which look better than they cost on the street and in the parking lot . Any manufacturer suggestions that I should consider for good value/appearance?

I'll bet your wife is happy. It looks like it will be very difficult to work under that table.
