Hey don't make fun of Lemax, they have made some very nice Christmas building and wall fronts that are perfect for places that are against a wall or narrow spaces. I like them.

No, I'd never make fun of ANY brand. Lemax was instrumental in changing the face of villaging. Plus, they are sold world wide and really popular everywhere. We have tons of Lemax (and others) in the photos, videos and write-ups on our website. We just happen to have a less serious view of villaging. We think it should be fun and include humor when we can. While most of my collection is D56 Heritage Village, I do have a bit of Lemax and other brands.

Bill & David, this is the most sensible way how to handle Department 56 here. D56 helps grow the O-Gauge hobby as well. Thanks for your input.

I am fan of all model building brands. Here is a favorite from Lemax on the layout.

I never meant in the post that others were being critical of lemax. I was just being tongue in cheek about Lemax. I applaud Lemax and others contributing to villaging. I have Lemax and several others I like and as a matter of fact a friend to me he was at the Cracker barrel restaurant and they have a small store in the restaurant that sells numerous items mostly to do with the holidays. Believe it or not they have started to put up Halloween and Christmas items. One of the Christmas items is a church About 16" or so high that looks really nice and he thought it may be good for my dept56 display.I will have to look at it before I decide to buy or not.

I am a bit confused (as usual)
Is the North Pole Village and the North Pole Crayon Village the same village series
Thank you

No, they are separate. The North Pole is strictly D56.

What's the story with Dept. 56 these days? Are they still actively designing and producing new product? I used to have a few shops locally that carried the line, but those have all closed. There's a garden center over in Timonium that has a decent amount of stuff, but I can't tell if it's recent production or NOS.
We have a dozen or so pieces from Dept. 56 and various other manufacturers that we set up at the holidays every 2-3 years. I should pull that stuff out and build a display for this year. It would be fun.
