Excellent progress, Bill. You and Doc are making it look easy and it really isn't.

Management neglected to mention that the plans called for front section construction to proceed from section 7 toward section 1. Interior work was completed on both section 7 and 6 last week ahead of schedule. Engineering got excited today and failed to follow the amended plan. In addition, they placed the blame on my crew. Our work is outstanding, ahead of schedule (unlike some crews), and has been praised at the highest levels of the railroad. This week we have hired additional staff with a multiplicity of talents and are pleased to introduce you to part of the staff. Paula

Bill and Paula, With the additional staff, are there enough tools available for all of them to work efficiently? The roundhouse project looks great! There is no timetable on my layout projects either. That is too much like the real world.

There is no timetable on my layout projects either. That is too much like the real world. No, there are not. Ordered more this AM. We have had an order with Model Tech Studios since the 5th and have heard nothing except that PayPal paid them. Can’t get their e-mail to work. So I went to Scenic Express and Rusty Rails about 4:30 this morning. The president of the N and W has his secretary working out the time for a reception/ribbon cutting. He gave us a date and it is fast approaching. Can’t add the front section until the interior is complete. Can’t complete the interior until we have the stuff... and now it has to be painted. This thing is taking a ton of details and figures to complete it. I painted most of the morning. People we have plenty of. We did get a confirmation that the lights are coming in on the afternoon Sunset GP-9s led Powhatan Arrow that are coming in from Scott.

Bill, getting materials in the hands of employees and contractors at the right time is always a problem. On the other hand, I have seen when they wanted us to get a project done faster, upper management would give us more electricians, and there wasn't time to prepare work for all of them or there wasn't room behind the right panels and cabinets for so many guys to work. Again, I'm glad I'm retired now.

I have had one experience with them and it was not good. Delays in my order and when I questioned them, I got a very nasty response from their owner. I would NEVER order from them again.

We have ordered from them 3-4 times and always good results. Got the e-mail to go thru later yesterday. We got a lot of stuff from them about 60 days ago and most of it was nice. They offer painted and unpainted. I ordered painted as am tired of painting and want this project completed..
Now, if their order comes, I have two more non-painted also on the way. I paint fast and good but am about over it for now. We have three unopened boxes from Scott on the floor. Rather check them out. That’s another thread.

Does setting up appointment to get room measured for carpet count? There to come on the 22nd. Then I can order & pay for the carpet and install.

You can't start the layout unless you have the flooring complete, unless you are Mark Boyce. There actually is a method to my madness with a layout that is mostly suspended from the wall studs.

“Hours upon hours detailing the roundhouse,” per Paula... and again we are almost out of stuff.
But, Model Tech Studios stuff arrived today... unpainted. They must be having supply problems like so many others. May be about enough to finish. Finished two more stalls and two others are almost complete. Photos can wait on more to be completed.including welder and acetylene that arrived from Dave at Evan Designs.
Rich said the employees are likely going on strike. Just what we need at this stage.

I actually achieved something today, and according to plan too.....amazing! I detached my viaduct section from the layout and moved it upstairs to a desk. It gives me a decent working height and saves the creaky bones. The bridge will wrap around a mesa-type outcrop, so wish me luck with the messy stuff. FW

Good idea to work on it at a better height! I have the same problem!! I think the viaduct will work out great! IT's much better than the original, which is what all of us can say about our layouts. Keep improving!

I would go for comfortable working conditions as well. Good luck with this project.

I started some foam base for the first part of my scenery. I also staged a meet of sorts.
