Hi folks,
I just received an email today from the fine folks at METCA, informing me that their MTH flatcar w/Lifesavers PUP's should be shipping to folks who pre-ordered them by the end of this month (August). I ordered the 4-pack, and these will look great with all of the Lifesavers tankers (and caboose) I've been collecting over the years from the TCA. Should make quite an eye-catching, whimsical Lifesavers-themed train. The flatcar w/Lifesavers PUP's are still available for purchase in the online store on METCA's website. Order all 4 like I did... or order just one and optionally select which color flatcar you prefer. Check 'em out...

Folks, as many of you know, the Fairbanks Morse Train Master diesel locomotives have always been a favorite of mine, since I saw my first Lionel Virginian blue/yellow model at a NJ train shop that my Dad and I would frequent in the mid-1960's. Even with today's increased detail levels, they still have a post-war era charm about them.
So I was glad to see Stockyard Express offering some custom-runs out of MTH's recent Premier Line production. I pre-ordered the two Westinghouse FM's, which also will match a Westinghouse bay window caboose offering available separately (not yet officially announced, but the caboose will appear on the MTH website when you search for "Stockyard Express"). My plan is to double-head the two Westinghouse FM's to head up a train pulling a bunch of MTH Schnabel cars with Westinghouse transformers. Should make for a cool train.
So here they are... (click on the thumbnail to enlarge the image)
Note: Last day for pre-order pricing exclusively thru Stockyard Express is noted as 8/20/2022.

I don't need it, but I do agree with Dave, the Westinghouse colors are terrific.

METCA Lionel P51 Mustang Legacy SD70ACE The North American P-51 Mustang is by far the most iconic warbird in military aviation history. Credited for winning the war in the skies during World War II, this fighter-bomber continued in active service into the Korean War. Most P51's had great paint scheme details with many having unique names and pinup art on the nose. METCA's Military Aviation SD70ACE captures the essence of the planes of that era. Featuring pinup girl artwork of Lil' Darling on the side of the cab along with olive drab paint and simulated polished aluminum along with yellow checkerboard and mid-body stripes of planes Gunfighter and Da'Quake, this full featured Legacy loco (see Lionel 2022 Volume 2 catalog for all features) is the perfect engine to pull that long string of flat cars with military loads and/or Lionel's Wings of Angels aviation themed box cars. Get FREE SHIPPING if you reserve by paying in full or reserve with only a deposit and $20 shipping will be added to the balance due when these are ready to ship. This loco includes a special Aux-3 AIR RAID SIREN sound feature when operating from the Legacy control system. metca.org/store.html

Uh, I’m really not sure if this is a dealer custom run or not but it surely rates a mention here:
This is from my main LHS, Chicagoland Toy & Hobby out on Northwest Highway.

2022 is indeed the year of exclusive custom-runs. And here's another one from The Train Loft that's sure to be a sell-out. MTH O-Scale DT&I flatcar w/PUP trailer in an eye-popping Stroh's livery... 2 roadnumbers too. ETA November 2022.

I just spotted in an email circular today this new offering from Pat's Trains - I may be out of touch but I think this is the first PS3 steamer in the never-ending run of MTH "special announcements"?
Given the price point - over $1,500 including shipping, which is not free, this is not really attractive, but (1) it reminds me of MTH's classic Erie Triplex, and (2) seems to mean that MTH has retained some sophisticated Premier steamer tooling. I have wondered whether Lionel had acquired the Triplex tooling and might do a Legacy/VL version? I would now guess the answer is "no". This is an odd engine that I know nothing about - except that I'd also guess MTH has made it before(?).
P.S. I just answered my own question: they have, seems like around 2007 and/or maybe even later. Here's a video.
