Andy, you are doing some outstanding modeling. The bridge, roadwork and sidewalks look fabulous. Ditto, ditto, ditto!!! We are watching an artist in action. Great work. And Andy, you are giving us good techniques to practice with on our own layouts.

Thanks Wood. I don’t know about an artist... I’m making this up as I go along. I like to describe the process that I use. Maybe someone else can add to it and make it better! I sure hope so, that way we all benefit. What makes a forum great is when we all exchange information and techniques. And I’m always open to learning and trying new things. If it can make me a better modeler I’m all for it.

It looks terrific Andy. I use lite weight spackle to fill the motor lines and wipe it with a damp sponge. That works pretty good. I use RustOleum Textured stone spray paint for my roof tops. It gives a similar effect of a course finish on the roof.
Did you hand paint the window sills, corner blocks and the top course?

Andy are we real time yet or is this still catching up? I can’t tell.
If real time, you might want o check out Berkshire Valley Models for detail parts like roof vents, door knobs, etc which really add a lot of realism. When we started doing structures, we got stuff from various sources and keep it on hand. We did the same with lighting, etc.
This is really interesting. You hit a hone run with your first structure build.

Thanks Wood, I did hand paint the window sills, corner blocks and top course with an aged concrete paint. I’ve used the textured spray paint on a few projects that I will post soon. I like the look. Thanks Bill, I’m still catching up, but getting close to present day. I did order a batch of details parts from Berkshire Valley Models for my first scratch build that I’m currently working on.

Andy excellent build on the Atlas kit. Just tell the people to watch their step walking out the top double doors!

Terrific build-out Andy. This building looks so realistic on your layout.
I can tell you are having a lot of fun.

Andy, you did a fabulous job on this building. It doesn't look like it's your first kit.

Andy, I think you've mastered this. These two buildings look great. Even the weathering looks just right.
