Totally understand where you are coming from John. A lot of Governors are being pressured to start opening things up. I understand people are becoming very frustrated. As we all know there is a lot of misinformation out there. My greatest fear is if too much is brought online too quickly there could be a second wave of this virus. I know the Canada U.S. Border is not going to open up anytime soon for regular traffic. As for there being a York Train Meet this October I would have to say the chances are between slim and none. The age demographic alone would make it too risky. Now if a vaccine is developed that would be a difference. The question is how quickly that would be made available to the general public. I am sure First Responders, Military, Health Professionals, and Politicians would be taken care of first. Then the rest of us would be vaccinated. Just my thoughts on this.
Be Safe and Take Care,
Gary.

I agree Gary. Just the plan to get us back to work, as it unfolds is scary. PPE equipment, safe working distance, minimal travel, people taking un-needed risk, eating out, Hotels, Public bathrooms... the list goes on and in October these checks and balances may not be in place at York.

No problem, the meet will go on in October. Trump is going to vaccinate everyone with sunlite, heat and disinfectant.

Begs the question, what’s worse? The virus or the destruction of the economy. Debate all we want but it won’t be settled until way down the road by historians

I’m really looking forward to October’s Meet, but as usual I’ll wait until a month before to make my flight and hotel reservations. We should know by then if it will happen. Even if the Meet happens, something to consider is how many vendors will attend. A lot of them are high risk too. It would be a shame if the halls were part empty of vendors. If so I wonder what the decision to hold the Meet would be.
And remember, our April badges are good for October. If October is canceled I hope the badges will be good for next April too!

Take Care,
Gary.

"I guess it is still wait and see and hope for a low risk vaccine!!"
Gary, I think that you are correct, when the vaccine is ready is when we can expect the next York Meet.

A vaccine with proper efficacy, 18 months minimum. And that’s if their first clinical trials are completely successful. Which they rarely are.
What will probably happen first is once the new cases of the virus slows down, everything will reopen and the virus will be considered an “acceptable risk”, like other diseases are.

"What will probably happen first is once the new cases of the virus slows down, everything will reopen and the virus will be considered an “acceptable risk”, like other diseases are. That's not an insult, that is just a fact of life!"
I sure hope that with all of the emphasis being placed on a vaccine, it can be ready a whole lot sooner. Otherwise, with the vast majority of York Attendees being at higher risk, the York Meet will not be held. They will by large measure not embrace the "acceptable risk" status.

An effective anti-viral may be more likely to come sooner. So, if you do get sick there may be a treatment.
I'm just praying for our talented medical professionals that they can beat this thing.

That’s just how long a clinical trial can take. It also depends on how satisfied the FDA is with the results of a trial. The FDA can fast track a drug to approval if results are promising. Part of the problem is the small amount of patients and the small amount of those patients that are willing to take part in a clinical trial.
There are some brilliant scientists working on a vaccine and most Pharma companies are trying to find one. Time will tell. Since there is no drug or vaccine that is 100% safe, that also factors in the time it takes.
What’s amazing is last winter here in San Diego, it was big news about all the people dying of regular flu. Not a peep about it this year. Just as many people die from regular flu and even with flu vaccines available not everyone gets it. It’ll be interesting to see when a covid-19 vaccine is available if everyone will get it.
I’m looking forward to October’s York Meet like I do Christmas, but I won’t mind staying home to stay healthy.
