Hi GUYZ, With YORK just on the horizon, I always start daydreaming of what I might find there at the meet. Last year I got one of my Holy Grail engines a Lionel JLC Scale Penn Central GG1. At a very good price. I am now down to one engine that I wish I can get and that is the diecast Lionel ES44AC in the Boy Scout livery. This will complete my collection of all the diecast ES44AC engines by Lionel. I missed out on one a few years back but one never knows at YORK what you will find. The HUNT goes on... What is your HOLY GRAIL?

The MTH O Scale Premier BR 44 Era IIIb Steam Engine w/Proto-Sound 3.0 (Hi-Rail Wheels)(20-3529-1) was produced in 2015. Somehow I overlooked it and already it's impossible to find.

I really want a Legacy steamer. It has to navigate 0-36 curves. Or a Legacy S2 or a Genset switcher, but mainly a steamer.

Laz, nothing that is screaming at me to obtain. I have to ditto that statement but you never know, there may be something that blows me away. Was like that at my last York show. It was Weavers last year and they were blowing out weathered B&M pacifics. The price was so good I had to pick one up. After I was wondering why Weaver was letting them go so cheap, turns out they closed two months later.

There are two engines that I'm looking for that come close to being a Holy Grail for me. First is a PRR S-2 that not only will run on my O36 curves but also won't destroy all the scenery with it's cab while it's going around those curves. MTH Railking just released an S-2 but it's huge, not comparable to my other steam engines. I'd like to find something like my first Lionel locomotive, the 2020, but I'd want it with PS3 or LC+. I'm hoping Lionel will get around to making one in it's LC+ 2.0 line before I die.
The other must have is a New York Central F type AA set. Again, I don't run conventional so an old F3 won't fill the bill, and it should be sized to fit in with my traditional size trains. I know MTH Railking has made AA or ABA sets with PS3 but I haven't seen any at any shows I've attended.
The Commodore Vanderbilt would be on the list but I found one at Mario's Trains earlier this year so it's off the list and on my layout.
The Commodore Vanderbilt, PRR S-2 and NYC F3/F7/F9/FT AA trio would replicate the big 3 locomotives I had as a child and make me a happy railroader.

I'm pretty much down to stuff that nobody has made. That has me finding prototype engines and getting them in line for repaints.
So far I've been able to get done LS&I RS-3 and RSD15. I also have an LS&I 2-8-0 with olive boiler jacketing. In the works is a LS&I RSD12 and a DSS&A Baldwin AS-616. Also in consideration is a DSS&A Baldwin centercab.
John, I'm thinking that A Class Hiawatha will be redone by Lionel sometime soon. Seems like an obvious choice for them to rerun. If they ran it as a Vision line engine the Vision Feature could be a servo that opens the streamline shrouding to reveal the smokebox... I'm dreamin!

Eventually, I want to get a Lionel scale PRR T1 to upgrade the electronics therein. I have the MTH version, but want to get the Lionel, which is a model of the work-a-day version. There was one at York in the Spring, but I didn't pull the trigger. Some day, no rush. Maybe next year some time.
