The MTH O Scale Premier BR 44 Era IIIb Steam Engine w/Proto-Sound 3.0 (Hi-Rail Wheels)(20-3529-1) was produced in 2015. Somehow I overlooked it and already it's impossible to find. Emile I found two with scale wheels recently. I bought both as they have the electronics for 3 rail running but they can be picky on the wrong type of track. I set set one up for third rail but I sold the other one just this week. I also have a SNCF BR44 with Hi-rail wheels. It was probably the last MTH BR44 on the retail market when I bought is a few months ago. When it rains, it pours. My Holy Grail isn’t an engine, but a caboose. 3rd Rail allegedly produced an Erie Dunmore caboose in the past. I have heard about them, but never have seen one... Tom

After finding the Weaver Southern Tennessean this last Winter after a 5 year search, I am no longer on a serious hunt for anything.

I've also found a Lionel Penn Central GG1 this summer, that had been my "Holy Crap, I found it!" Holy Grail. And I also found my K-Line 21" Amtrak Surfliner cars a couple weeks ago. All that's left for me is to look towards " The Ghost of Catalog futures". I have a long list of hopefuls, but my immediate hope is for MTH to make the San Diego North County Coaster. They already have the components to make the cars and locomotives.

I like the PC GG1. I want one for my collection, but I am waiting to see if I can get one for less than the $1300 some of the eBay sellers are asking.
Not enough Penn Central locomotives out there!

I am trying to find the Lionel Milwaukee 4-4-2 Hiawatha. I have all the cars, but not the locomotive. There was one listed on OGR this morning FWIW. OG who? !!! Never heard of them... and I am keeping it that way.

I pretty much have all my "must haves". One item I'd like to see in Legacy is a UP Turbine but I imagine they would give it the VL treatment and I'm at the point that I don't want to spend that kind of $$ anymore.

Hi GUYZ, With YORK just on the horizon, I always start daydreaming of what I might find there at the meet. Last year I got one of my Holy Grail engines a Lionel JLC Scale Penn Central GG1. At a very good price. I am now down to one engine that I wish I can get and that is the diecast Lionel ES44AC in the Boy Scout livery. This will complete my collection of all the diecast ES44AC engines by Lionel. I missed out on one a few years back but one never knows at YORK what you will find. The HUNT goes on... What is your HOLY GRAIL? George, do you have the die-cast BNSF ES44AC #6436? That's the baby I'm still looking for to pair with my BNSF #6431. And from what I understand, that was made in a notably short production quantity back in the day. I thought for sure I'd land #6436 when Grzyboski Trains was selling off Dick Kuhn's collection a couple of years ago, but it didn't happen. Lionel has since delivered a few BNSF ES44AC diesels in recent years, but none seem to beat the overall heft, quality and sounds of the original runs of die-cast ES44's from 8-10 years ago. If anybody has any leads, please let me know!!! David

But got to thinking if you had the BNSF Golden Swoosh plastic one , would the diecast one fit it? I looked at Lionel replacement parts for the cab top and other parts along with the boards and they are available there. With the November half price sale forth coming might this be the way to go to get a made 6436?

George, Thanks for reminding me about the diesel shells from Nassau Hobbies. I recall reading about Charlie snagging a bunch of those shells when Lionel sold off lots of older parts to bolster its cash position. I was gonna look into that at the time, but then got distracted my another task at hand and never revisited that route. Perhaps it's time to do that now. Thanks again!!! David
