It appears that the ship by date as reported by the Lionel Store has nudged up a bit to 8/19. If accurate get your wallets ready for a withdrawal sooner than you thought!

2H2024 is gonna be rough… but I’ve been saving for it. Ready and waiting… that’s next week for those who purchased from Lionel’s store. Dealers will likely get them a week later.
It’ll me I treating to see if Mr. Muffin’s next email blast shows the Triplex locos as “coming in next”.

Tonight’s email blast from Mr. Muffin’s Trains shows FEF’s in now (with photos) and the Mountain M1’s due in next from Lionel. No mention of the Triplex yet. But perhaps those models will be the following week or two. There should be quite a drumroll for those — not to mention dealers turning those around FAST for a nice cash infusion!!!

Drumroll for dealer's cash flow. Death knell for my CC balance! . . . or, perhaps combine the two, in a "March to the Gallows"?:

All 4 of my children were in marching band and I am a PROUD past president of the music boosters. I remember many a competition and still love watching them.

Straight from the mouth of Mr. Muffin, Lionel is expecting to receive the Triplexes 9-12. Not ship, receive.

Straight from the mouth of Mr. Muffin, Lionel is expecting to receive the Triplexes 9-12. Not ship, receive. Well so much for a Labor Day treat. I knew something was up, when Mr. Muffin's email blast yesterday made NO MENTION of the Triplex.
FWIW, shipping from China to the US is running MUCH longer than usual... perhaps the Baltimore bridge collapse is still reeking havoc with shipping lanes. The FEF I just purchased the other day had an OBS date of 4/30/2024. I didn't buy the locomotive the day they arrived in stores. I pulled the trigger about a week or so later. But either way, I'm guessing the time from China to Lionel's warehouse exceeded 12 weeks. And for the longest time, it was around 7-8 weeks like clockwork.
That kind of delay is gonna make 4Q shipments VERY dicey for arrival before end-of-year. Sigh... things are what they are.

Straight from the mouth of Mr. Muffin, Lionel is expecting to receive the Triplexes 9-12. Not ship, receive. In the past, I think that Lionel has drop-shipped new items to main dealers rather than receive them itself and ship them to main dealers afterwards. I believe that was the case with the first VL Big Boy and maybe certain other models. However, that was a while back as in some years and the current approach of shipping first to those customers who pay full list price from the Lionel Store may have put paid to that approach. The last model I bought based on a Lionel catalog was the Legacy Veranda turbine and whether or not it these went to Lionel for onward shipping they clearly weren't checked before reaching distributors/dealers because assembly issues, including trucks that fell off the chassis on unboxing, clearly were not spotted before they reached customers.
I expect that the Triplex has been a big seller but you can only wait with trepidation to learn if they arrive in operable shape!

I always just assumed stuff from China came east to our west coast and was curious about the "Baltimore" comment. I decided to educate myself and see they can actually go east or west to the U.S.

Watchful waiting used to apply to Woodrow Wilson's description of American policy towards Mexico during its' revolutionary period. (Bet you didn't expect to learn that little piece of trivia on a model train forum did you?)
That phrase has a new application to shipment arrivals of model train imports as we watchfully wait for announcements not only from Lionel , RMT, Atlas, and MTH but also from our savings and checking account balances as the financial reckoning get's compressed down to fewer and fewer months!
In the meantime, I have succumbed to the temptation of the wood side reefer virus with their eye catching color schemes and quant graphics. All unfortunately readily available seemingly everywhere. But then of course one must have the appropriate road name motive power for pulling which leads me to select a consolidation engine which I have here to for avoided buying. The Roadrunner diesel will just not do!
While others may be anxiously hoping for their preorders to arrive, I have switched to playing the long game when seasonal items did not typically arrive until late in the first quarter of the following year!
Consequently Triplex please take all the time you need!
Christmas items, there is always Orthodox Christianity Christmas!
So please train importers, do not hurry on my account, or at least space out your arrivals a little better pretty please!

I always just assumed stuff from China came east to our west coast and was curious about the "Baltimore" comment. I decided to educate myself and see they can actually go east or west to the U.S. At first I was slightly surprised at the number of US sea ports that are not in those graphics but I remembered an experience a few years back with a 3rd Rail shipment. A lot of us, Brian Vaill included, were eagerly awaiting their GM Train of Tomorrow sets and Scott Mann posted a link to the container ship they were on. Cue collective obsession on the part of us foaming fans and I now remember that the ship went to Long Beach first and then up the California coast to Oakland from which it returned to China. The Oakland port has been subject to many delays since and in particular for shipments going direct to it from the Far East.
I would not have thought that these days the option of shipping via the Red Sea is very attractive these days because insurance costs have no doubt increased.

I mentioned this because I'd been told previous Lionel shipments this year were affected/delayed by the bridge collapse for shipments scheduled to come in the port of Baltimore. I would think if alternatives were available, scheduling via a different route is certainly a possibility. But the OBS dates and the arrival of product in stores tells the story. As I said... the old "standard" was roughly 7-8 weeks travel time from China to Lionel's warehouse in NC.
