Not only does Lionel reportedly have the Triplexes in house... Steve emphasized he expects those beasts to ship out from Lionel next week... perhaps as early as Monday for his two custom-run Triplexes (Erie w/o whitewalls and the Dwight Eisenhower U.S. Army model). He's expecting to see them at the store later in the week. Gonna be an exciting and wildly busy place for sure at some of the larger dealers, who are gonna turn these jewels around ASAP.
He also rambled off a list of other Lionel goodies that should ship from NC next week as well, including the A5 (0-4-0's), some John Deere items, and add-on 20th Anniversary Polar Express coaches. There are others, but those caught my ear.
Speaking of rambling, is the Mr. Muffin persona that Steve utilizes when he is in character the way he acts around the house?! Charles, "rambling" was a poor choice of words on my part, since nowadays rambling might have a negative connotation to some folks. I was thinking of it more along the lines of a very old radio show in the greater NYC area called "Rambling with Gambling" in my youngster years (hosted by John Gambling Sr., and then later by his son John Jr. I believe).
Steve actually provides a great service to his customers with his "Office Hours with Mr. Muffin" show on Fridays -- doing something Lionel COULD be doing directly, but chooses not to -- likely because they're too busy managing through WAY too many SKU's in recent years. The "rambling" comment really was intended to imply Steve was reading through a long, multi-page shipping manifest of SKU's that Lionel sends to its dealers and distributors.

If rambling was a poor word choice for some it pretty much describes the stream of consciousness approach Mr. Muffin employs to good effect in his Office Hours show. One thing for certain you have to pay attention or you may miss something that is unless Mr. Muffin repeats himself as his is known to do from time to time. But if I had to choose one word to describe the show format, rambling would be one of the first words that comes to mind with no negative connotation.
I suspect that Mr. Muffin is as crazy as a fox, and we are the chickens in the hen house, or at least our wallets are!
But lest there be any doubt nothing but good vibes from me to Mr. Muffin.

... On the Lionel Store site you can now add the two remaining Triplex versions which have not sold out to your cart. ... And only ONE LEFT of both models at that.

And for those who order before midnight tonight, receive a free Lenny the lion plush tail to hang off your car's fuel door; oh that was an Esso tiger tail. Never mind.... But on a brighter note did you know that when Shari Lewis died they had to hold 5 funerals?

Hey Chuck I had that Esso Tiger tail on my car back in the day. My girl friend at the time thought it was cute. I kept it anyway because she was also!!!

While it may not always be obvious, let me be clear that I for one am quite pleased that the Triplex has arrived apparently w/o the disappointment of the F-19s. While we can be and are critical of Lionel when warranted, I have never met anyone who wishes that Lionel could/should fail.
The only thing I worry about now other than paying for it, is getting the darn thing out of the box!

If the engine has some special boxing requirements I'm fine with unboxing videos. Beyond that I just don't get it but those that do them have more folks watching their videos so I must be in the minority. Can't wait to see these. Did you order one David?

... Did you order one David? Marty, yes. I ordered the Train Loft's custom-run N&W #1959 maroon Triplex along with the matching MTH high-side coke hoppers. Aside from being a N&W fan, the engine number is the year I was born... in case I need to remind myself why I succumbed to this cool design.

Too bad Jeff was not able to get the rest of the story regarding the fate of the N&W mystery Triplex. As respects unboxing videos I hope that Eric is not on blood thinners, or his wife is not too close by given his penchant for using his knife collection to open the boxes.

Dave, not to bring up a negative but quite awhile ago in another context/thread you chastised me for rationalizing a purchase of something or other. Now aren't you are doing the same thing? Let him who is without sin cast the first stone, or people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones, or what goes around come around. An elephant never forgets! Gotcha!

Too rich for my blood. Even though, this is a really cool model. I am really struggling finding a spot to run it on a Montana themed layout.
