Straight from the mouth of Mr. Muffin, Lionel is expecting to receive the Triplexes 9-12. Not ship, receive. Well so much for a Labor Day treat. I knew something was up, when Mr. Muffin's email blast yesterday made NO MENTION of the Triplex.
FWIW, shipping from China to the US is running MUCH longer than usual... perhaps the Baltimore bridge collapse is still reeking havoc with shipping lanes. The FEF I just purchased the other day had an OBS date of 4/30/2024. I didn't buy the locomotive the day they arrived in stores. I pulled the trigger about a week or so later. But either way, I'm guessing the time from China to Lionel's warehouse exceeded 12 weeks. And for the longest time, it was around 7-8 weeks like clockwork.
That kind of delay is gonna make 4Q shipments VERY dicey for arrival before end-of-year. Sigh... things are what they are.
The shipping lane has been opened for a few weeks now. The rerouting of ships not so much I suspect.

I think that there should be a prize (such as a virtual merit badge) for the first confirmed arrival of the shipment(s) of the Triplex. I imagine it will be when Lionel itself ships out the ones it has sold direct via its Store but that’s just a guess. According to one of the previous posts it could be any day starting today. Just out of curiosity I’ll be interested to know what happens when.

Triplex, who cares plex. Just joking, really. I'm wondering where my A1 berk is? Due this month, on the dock, on the water, on a truck to Lionel? Who knows. Radio silence from my dealer.

How long it takes to get to any given dealer is unknown. This all assumes that they don't make a return trip to China as was the case with the F-19s.

Where oh where has my Triplex gone?
Oh where oh where can it be??
Is it in the hands of Lionel yet?
Or at the bottom of the deep blue sea?
With its' color so dark and
Its' length so long,
Oh where oh where can it be?
I was bored OK?

The Lionel website store is now showing an ETA for shipping of 9/12/2024, which is TODAY. The store is also indicating TWO models are not sold-out (the pilot model and one of the Erie models), although they are still shown as pre-order rather than "add to cart". For several weeks now, only the pilot model was available for pre-order. Everything else showed sold-out. So that's a small bit of movement anyway.
In related news, the webstore is also showing THREE models of the 0-4-0's available to order with "add to cart" buttons. Dealers should be seeing them "soon". I'm hoping METCA has their models and will be shipping them out any day now, since I've already paid the invoice. Hint... Hint...

True. Engines that were actually an engineering failure sometimes make the most impressive/interesting models. Another couple of cases very much in point - the MTH UP coal turbine and the 3rd Rail Jawn Henry:

According to our pal Mr. Muffin, Lionel is in possession of the Triplexes. Purely out of morbid curiosity (NOT) I'll be interested to know if they work.
P.S. Does he know if they really truly have them?

P.S. Does he know if they really truly have them? That's what MM said. No equivocation, or hesitation. Lionel has them. If I had not heard him say it myself, I would not have posted it.

Not only does Lionel reportedly have the Triplexes in house... Steve emphasized he expects those beasts to ship out from Lionel next week... perhaps as early as Monday for his two custom-run Triplexes (Erie w/o whitewalls and the Dwight Eisenhower U.S. Army model). He's expecting to see them at the store later in the week. Gonna be an exciting and wildly busy place for sure at some of the larger dealers, who are gonna turn these jewels around ASAP.
He also rambled off a list of other Lionel goodies that should ship from NC next week as well, including the A5 (0-4-0's), some John Deere items, and add-on 20th Anniversary Polar Express coaches. There are others, but those caught my ear.

P.S. Does he know if they really truly have them? On the Lionel Store site you can now add the two remaining Triplex versions which have not sold out to your cart. Seems like proof positive that they are here. It will be interesting to see if any unboxing videos of the Triplex will reveal any helpful hints as was the case with the Strasburg #90; keeping in mind that the Triplex ships with the tender already hooked up to the engine due to the difficulty of attaching it in the field per Ron Kunkel.

Speaking of rambling, is the Mr. Muffin persona that Steve utilizes when he is in character the way he acts around the house?!
