A friend on another forum and here told me he upset a few people here and has decided to leave here because of the criticisms he got here.
This is not what our forum is about, We can talk about anything we want without the out fear of being banned. I have myself criticized some posts especially my thoughts on Lionel and I was criticized back but it was in response to what I said and rightly so.
We have the right here to say ALMOST anything but like I have posted before, read it back to yourself before posting it and more time I would like to admit I deleted a thought before posting it because I thought it may upset someone.
Lets keep this forum the place to be for O gauge trains and friendships!!!

Some people mistake bashing or criticisms for just disagreeing with something. Sorry your friend is leaving, more than likely over nothing but they should stay. It's social media, don't take it personally.
On a side note, I don't read all threads but I have not seen anything I would call nasty.

Dave, I’m pretty sure I know who you are talking about. He wasn’t banned. He did indeed irritate a few members and got some pushback on his posts. Leaving is his choice and may be for the best. If he decides to come back at some point in the future he will be welcomed back.

not a actual post on here but I said some nasty things to one of the group moderator in a private message, I did put my tail between my legs and came back saying I was sorry and apologize and was welcomed back open arms.
This forum is loving even when you haven't been.

Whatever the reason for his disagreement I really don't like losing members because some of us can't get along.

Agree or disagree about a post doesn't mean that replies are aimed at the poster, rather ones opinion about the subject. One should never consider a reply post as a personal attack on them, but rather as just a different opinion.
On another note: I learn and aprreciate a different opinion and further my learning.

I’d rather not say because I may have the wrong person in mind (there are 2 or 3 that it could be). Whoever it is, if he changes his mind and decides to stay he’s welcome here.

It took me a long time to learn people can be hurtful on forums. So unless it's an outright attack on me, I just move on. And there were some, but that person is gone now.

I have found the OGF to be a collegial and congenial place. I have not observed criticisms ever directed at individuals or being personal. Comments are often given as opinions of products, etc. and not directed toward individuals. It is good to be open and candid - idea exchanges are good. Alfred

I'll just say this, I have learned that no matter how you say something, it can be taken the wrong way. I can't see our members being cruel and disrespectful.
