It's June train gang! If I remember correctly the Lionel summer catalog comes out in July... correct? Any ideas on what's in it?
My guess is a Legacy Central Maine & Quebec AC-4400 because I just got the MTH version that I waited two years for and the Train Gods love Iron(y)

Some enthusiasts really hate to discuss prices. But seriously… Lionel’s Big Book Catalog (volume 1) each year is so large and has so many big-ticket items now, Lionel can do without a Vol 2 catalog… and we wouldn’t even notice.

Lionel seems to keep upcoming releases much more secretive than they have in the past. Even catalog release dates.
But regardless of what’s in it or not in it, it’s always fun to page through the catalog. Even though I’m much more selective about what I want to buy I never know if there will be a surprise in there I have to have. (There is always something!). If I do see something I’d like it then begins the evaluation process. Cost, potential reliability, how it fits my railroad, but mostly if I think it’s cool! 😎

Yep, electric train catalogs are always fun & interesting to page through. I miss the catalogs from MTH, Weaver, and K-Line.

Key word, "reliability". Will it work or will it break down in 2 months?

Discussing prices is not the problem; paying those prices now that is another matter altogether. I used to look forward to the months ahead for the change seasons and the applicable activities that went along with the passing of the year. Now I live with the dread of learning when the next cluster of arrivals from my preorders will be delivered and the effect on my cash flow to say nothing of where I am going to put the new arrivals. June/July looks to be ugly.

There are so many complaining about high prices on food and fuel and how they can afford them, yet so many model railroaders never blink an eye when Lionel rolls out their new product with inflationary high prices. But then again I been watching E Bay because I have some items I want to sell and its unbeliavable when I accidently called up a page on Marx figures looking for O scale figures and the prices people are bidding on a single 2-3 inch figure. A lot of rich people out there.
Me, I happy with what I have and run though (as I have mentioned)been thinking of selling it all and use that to go into HO.

Yes, even when I think I have enough trains and wayward off buying something news, I always find something special I “hafta have” in each new Lionel catalog.
