Well all my magazines were given away. Now that there is You tube they seem so "2 dimensional". Plus I look to save the space and money for more trains!

Even though I have not been a member of the other forum for quite a few years and same with the magazine (too "elitist" and too mean at times), I still go and read the forum once in a while.
I notice that even with the "bashing", there are quite a few members here that are still "rah-rah" participating members there as well.
Freedom of choice and all that.
BUT! THIS forum was originally founded on HAVING FUN WITH TRAINS and on CONGENIALITY AND MANNERS. This seems to be falling away with the passing of the founders. Sad. Seems like all internet forums suffer this fate.
Let's quit beating that dead horse! The carcass STINKS it's so old!
Move on! More train stuff, less gossiping and being what that other forum is! BE DIFFERENT! Carry on the ORIGINAL intent of the founders of this forum!
More HONEST consumer-level product reviews.
More tips and hacks to repair and maintain our trains and scenery.
More layout pics and videos.
If your layout or product or repair videos are too long, then post a link and put it on youtube. We can see it there.
More meet notices and meet reviews.
GROW this hobby! WELCOME people here and DON'T be judgemental! Let that other forum take care of that. This forum should be for TRAINS, FUN and EVERYONE!
rant over ... old guy going back downstairs to run trains and work on layout.

Mr Meep, and all OGF Members,
I agree with you, even though I went through a tough time with ogr and I have been one of the people who keeps ripping them, I will cease the hostilities towards them. But please if I fall off the wagon, please gently remind me of my promise. I do intend to keep it from now on. Thanks for reminding me what this hobby and this forum is about.

I don’t want to close or delete threads about OGR but I would be very happy if there were no more OGR threads here. I would prefer our members to start threads about their layouts or projects they are working on.

Come on, I think you are exaggerating the problem and being just a bit dramatic about the impact of OGR. I think only one out of every 300 thread are about OGR. That’s hardly a crises. There a plenty of fun and interesting train posts here. Read and enjoy and ignore the comments about OGR if they bother you. It’s no joke though, many people have been wronged by OGR. Please respect that and allow us to vent.

Dave It seems that there is a parallel discussion on this topic on the 'Wow they move fast thread' with the same mixed feelings if anyone cares to cross reference. I am reminded of a saying that I heard recently to the effect the hatred destroys the vessel that contains it. While hatred may be too strong a word in this instance the essence of the saying rings true as members express their heartfelt feelings of anger and dare I say betrayal at the hands of the other forum. My experience there was brief and therefor I do not have as much of an historical stake in this topic as do others. My perspective is that I do not want to be where I am not wanted. That is why I am at OGF. As Dave has stated here, and I over on the Wow thread previously, I will post no more comments about the rules, moderators, or practices of that other forum as I consider it a poor reflection on myself, and of no value to the mission of this forum. However I respect the choice of others to feel and act differently than me on this subject.

I think using “ hate” to describe the occasional OGR post that pops up once in while is a bit over the top dramatic. People are just expressing their frustration and the snobbish and elitism attitudes of OGR’s managers make them an easy target.
The irony is that this current bout of OGR commentary would have faded away weeks ago except that people keep complaining about people complaining about OGR.
Unless you are flat out advocating that the Admin ban any mention of OGR I would suggest that you simply ignore any OGR posts and read any of the hundreds of train posts available here.
Perhaps a little less pearl clutching and drama the next time OGR is mentioned. As SGT Hulka said: “Lighten up, Francis.”

Dave Dave you are of course free to do what you like, but you and others here were wronged by OGR and you have nothing to apologize for givng some H E double hockey back. Don’t let others pressure you into believing that you are wrong to feel anger or frustration after the way OGR treated you.

….Perhaps a little less pearl clutching and drama the next time OGR is mentioned. As SGT Hulka said: “Lighten up, Francis.” This is great! I love this forum!
And this is what you said on page 3 of this thread:
“This reflects the truth that OGR forum members are not OGRs customers. The pompadour wearing, 2004 Corvette driving OGR manager does not car if OGR forum members are happy, he just wants them to obediently and quietly populate the forum to showcase to his well paying forum a willing audience for their products and services.”
Thats just a bit dramatic, huh? Just a little.
I’m not discounting your experience with OGR, it’s a shame that happened to you for something that’s supposed to be fun. But, we got it the first couple times.

Yes my description of OGR's management is a bit dramatic but it does have flair and its funny because it has just a bit of truth in it.

The two forums are completely different, OGR and OGF.
OGR forum is Technically oriented. Find a solution to your problems. Problems with your engines.
OGF is about the people in the hobby. much less technical.
Each has its own use.

OGF is about the people in the hobby. much less technical. Each has its own use. I think answers to technical questions can also be found here as well as other forums. There is nothing unique to what OGR “provides” except the opportunity to pay a hefty fee for the privilege to be a captive audience for its forum sponsor. On a side note, it looks like the admin has thrown the anchor ⚓️ on this thread. Too bad. Soft censorship.
