Yes... but just over an hour after the OP posted the news, the thread was closed with the "No new replies are permitted" banner. In other words, DON'T TALK ABOUT IT!
So what ARE folks "allowed" to talk about over there??? I honestly don't know why members put up with that BS.

Yes but as I figured it's not allowed, closed after 3 post. So it's not allowed.

Here's an article on the transaction by the man himself, Craig Fuller, CEO of Firecrown, the acquiring company: www.freightwaves.com/news/firecrown-media-grows-again-with-addition-of-trains-astronomy. Fuller says he's passionate about transportation (including railroading and aviation) and space, and he seems to have some ideas on how to make the legacy Kalmbach brands successful in the digital age. Also, he states: "Firecrown plans to retain all [emphasis added] of the editorial and content resources of the former Kalmbach Media brands and open a new office in Wisconsin to accommodate the teams currently working on them." Sounds like CTT will continue...

That's basically what i took from what Bob Keller was saying, he understood, that more or less Trains and the rest of the magazines would continue.

By the way, have the CTT and other Kalmbach forums vanished--or is it just my computer?

The CTT forum has been a crap shot at best for better than a year. there are good days and then there are no dice days and sometimes you get lucky but will take you a while.

While I have purchased CTT and on occasion purchased Kalmbach books I have not been a faithful supporter and therefor can only surmise that the Kalmbach Group competed with OGR to some degree? If so as much as I hate to say it I can appreciate why OGR would not want to give their up Forum space to promote or even mention a competitor especially if someone threw them a lifeline. That said, the comment that likely stung the most was the remark that Kalmbach was the last publisher with a full time staff to which the moderator took quick exception in his first sentence of the last post before the thread was closed.

More paranoid insecurity on the part of those running the show "over there". OGR is on borrowed time as it stands. And this kind of behavior simply proves it. The event was newsworthy. And if OGR had confidence in their product, they would welcome a discussion of the landscape of model railroading magazines -- both traditional and digital. I don't buy the "competitor" mentality... never have... and never will. It's a dated and stodgy management style, which once again illustrates why it's best I'm no longer "there". Oil and water simply don't mix.

OGR’s biggest competitor is this forum, which is growing by leaps and bounds, especially with OGR refugees. Even worse, those refugees found a forum that is more fun, more relaxed and can tell their friends they now longer have to suffer under OGR’s poor service.

OGR’s biggest competitor is this forum, which is growing by leaps and bounds, especially with OGR refugees. Hmmm, I would likely disagree with that notionally. I did a quick survey this AM at 0900 of the four forums I frequent most often. Here are the numbers of users online: OGR 1552 (ogrforum.ogaugerr.com) MTJ 56 (modeltrainjournal.com) BIT 43 (bigindoortrains.com) OGF 37 (o-gaugeforum.com) Other times of day, the numbers are similar. I'm guessing OGR is not feeling the heat, at least not from OGF or most other O-gauge-centric sites. I'm sure they have industry/marketing concerns that are far higher up the scale than to worry about rival sites, at least for now. I came to this place some months ago having seen a few glimmers of thoughtful conversation regarding projects being worked, inspirational photographs of layouts/dioramas/collections, technical assessments of new stuff, etc. I want to see stuff, share a few things, possibly even learn something (egads). If we really want to build OGF up into a seriously considered outlet, we need to have some meaningful content. Let's see some more layout/diorama shots. Let's see some in-progress projects. Let's see some scenery/structure-building techniques. Give us some history on stuff in your collection, whether it be product or personal history. The possibilities are endless. If we do those sorts of things, we'll truly grow the contributing membership; however, if we grouse endlessly about getting the boot from another forum, or we call for the demise of organizations/memberships/meets, or we revel in the travails of print media, or hammer new product without some thoughtful assessment, on and on, than this place just becomes a hangout for angry old guys. If we truly want to make OGF "OGR’s biggest competitor", than there's work to be done. Paul R.

Not saying it doesn't show that many user on line, but they already been caught ( and they won't correct it ) show more members than they really have, even if you have been kicked off by them, they still keep you on the roster to make them look better to there advertisers. This is even ones who have decided not to revue there so-called membership. There's ways to make yourself look like you have more online at any given time. So numbers like this don't impress me anyway whether they are accurate or not. If you keep non-members as part of your count of active members what else do you do. Do I have a problem with them yes. When you answer a question by one of there buddies, and they go in and change and edit things to make you look like the bad guy, When you did nothing wrong, Yes I have a problem with them.

There is no other forum that is growing as fast as OGF and many of us are are former OGR'ers which is reflects poorly on OGR. We are also a happier, less fearful forum that OGR. We are growing at OGR's expense.

This reflects the truth that OGR forum members are not OGRs customers. The pompadour wearing, 2004 Corvette driving OGR manager does not car if OGR forum members are happy, he just wants them to obediently and quietly populate the forum to showcase to his well paying forum a willing audience for their products and services. The fact that you your OGR magazine subscription has been cancelled does not matter to him. You are still useful as a number to impress his well paying forum sponsors.

I thought this thread was about the sale of Kalmbach Media to Firecrown media.
