rtraincollector, I didn't get that impression from the Keller post. My impression was he has stock and a pension which will remain. I went through the same thing a number of years ago. The stock was traded two-for-one with the purchasing company (their stock was worth about twice that of my company) and our pensions were taken over by the new company. Part of the agreement was our pensions would not be cashed out and we would keep them - which we did and which are still paying a monthly amount. Moreover, in addition to any negotiated severance agreement, there is an overlay of laws limiting companies' ability to just wipe away their pension obligations by going out of business. I have no idea what Keller may have been able to negotiate before being shown the door, or what the new owners may be required to do by law, but I strongly suspect there may be more to the story than was revealed in the post . . .

It sounds like CTT will not be continued under the new regime. I'm sorry to see them go and I wish it was OGR instead that was meeting its demise.

Clambake is not to blame. The internet killed the magazines. Look at Time, Newsweek, etc. Poof! Sorry to make this political (or maybe not ) but the demise of those two magazines has just as much to do with them being leftest rags as it it with the demise of paper print. You put out good content the people want to read and you will survive.

Bob's latest post,
looks like the tracks titles will have a great future under the new owner. My comments were referring to the Kalmbach Media corporation, ergo it will no longer have a business. The future of the magazines looks brighter than ever.

Many of the once great magazines have disappeared in print form; ex Better Homes and Gardens, TV Guide, Variety, Good Housekeeping, Readers Digest, Consumer Reports, Popular Science, Popular Mechanics, Railroad Model Craftsman but some now exist online. The internet You Tube, and the smart phone caused print media to decline. When we travel by train in particular I miss reading some of those old magazines and catalogs. As for Kalmbach Media, it is a large facility and has/had 275 employees. I expect the Kalmbach magazine business to continue under Fireacrown but be greatly downsized . It is almost a certainly that Kalmbach real estate will be sold off and a smaller operation will result.

For CTT to survive as a magazine under new management it will have to significantly improve in its content. I dropped my subscription when they went to a quarterly mag.

Yup, right next to the Tattoo parlor and Chinese restaurant in Bluf Tuck Arkansas.

I know people who use UPS mailing center post office box. What's The problem ? It works great for them. Unlike P.O. Boxes, you’ll get a real street address for your very real small business. Receive packages and mail from all shipping carriers. And because running a 9 to 5 business is not a 9 to 5 job, you’ll have 24-hour access to your mailbox at participating UPS Store locations. www.theupsstore.com/mailboxes

Maybe, but that doesn’t change the fact that OGR is terribly managed site that will ban people for the most arbitrary, secretive and unfair reasons with no accountability as to why or a refund for your subscription.
