Wood your third pic reminds me of the cars that brought the windmill blades into the area. I had pictures but they were included in the bunch that went to the mysterious beyond! Always wanted to model them.

Looking really good Wood. This has been a fun and educational thread to follow.

I'm impressed by your research and results. Now you will know what each flange is for and were each entrance hatches are located. At least you won't have to add bubble trays or downcomers.

This has to be one of the most unique projects taken on within our O-Gauge hobby. Good for you, Wood.

Thanks Josef, My research is mostly to get the outside appearance correct. If you opened the document you will see that it is an engineering algorithm. The design has to provide for the pressure, fumes and all kinds of high temp liquid condensing. Way beyond my mathematical abilities. Lots of appreciation for those engineers. I will still be counting on you to make sure we get it right. Stay tuned.

That would be a cool load. Lionel made an O Gauge wind Turbine that had individually installed blades. It would be perfect for your model. Here is the link and a picture. Lionel Wind Turbine 6-82015 3 pack

Wood I have seen them. I believe the scale is off. They seem to be more HO scale. Need a blade that stretches the length and a half of a long flat car. Probably 12 to 14 inches in length.
Do a search for windmill or turbine blades on train car and you'll see what I'm talking about. I was going to copy and paste a pic but didn't wanna get in trouble. Lol

Ok I did some investigating on this. A turbine blade is 120 foot. My guess in O gauge would be around 30 inches. That would be pretty much impossible to do or run on any layout! So maybe you have the right idea Wood and I just live with a scaled down version.

So maybe you have the right idea Wood and I just live with a scaled down version. RJ, It is a pretty large windmill, but it is not scale. I used to have one and sold it. The unit is 15 inches high. That means the blades were about 10" long. Not long enough for a double flat car. My articulated cars are 14" long so a double would be 28". You might find some propellers in a hobby shop that could be altered into the right blade. Or on eBay. I just found these 90cm 35" and you can cut the base off and get it down to 27" Check it out Wind Turbine Blades

The Plastruct stuff is not cheap and every time you order you have to spend minimum $25.00.. I learned a long time ago that building models and selling them makes no sense. Your hourly wage is like $5.00. Ask Harry and he is good!!! This is all off the page here but, this is what I do. I love to find interesting ideas, locations, or items that are rarely seen and try to model them on my layout. My friends don't visit me for the great train collection or the ingenious layout, it is because there is something very unique for them to see. When I saw Josef's video, I knew I had to build it. Thank you though for your kind offer.
