Looking at the train-meet-cam, it seems a lot of folks turned up. Not too many carrying bags or boxes, but still a good turnout.

Thank you very much for inquiring for me. I had a feeling the canisters might not blink, because the catalog would have highlighted an "operational gondola w/illuminated canisters". Would have been nice feature to turn on/off -- especially when operating the set in daylight, where the glow-in-the-dark effect isn't gonna be noticeable. The old post-war radioactive waste cars had illuminated canisters, and that's what made me think about this for a car in the AEC Legacy set. But this is not a deal-breaker. The set will still be very popular. You are welcome! I am glad it is not a deal breaker for you. This set has a real 1960s Lionel space and military feel to it and would have been home in the 1962 catalog. It will be a fun set and a conversation piece when entertaining guests at your layout.

Picked up a NYC stock car from Grzyboski's, I was given a Lionel milk car that was relettered and weathered. Nice surprise gift. Spent money at Micro fasteners for more Kadee conversions and bought kadees at kadee. at this stage of my life I don’t need much more.

The MTH booth is small but Rich Foster is very nice and personal. One interesting thing is that I asked both Lionel and MTH about custom runs to what it would take for Mr Average Train Guy to put an order in. The big take away for me is that the minimum number for a custom run order from both Lionel and MTH are very similar. It makes sense when you consider that the economy of scale from both Lionel and MTH would be about the same.

If it is a train car, you are looking at about 100 for both. For Lionel the caveat is that the train car is in the current catalogue cycle. For locomotives about half that number.

Didn't make it out to the show. The weather would have probably been OK, but the snow is picking up steam near us. As a consolation prize I made an offer and got this Williams NW2 for a song. I am going to buy or print some decals and turn this into an Army engine for my Menards Army consist. Should be a fun project!
