Thinking you should start your new years on the right foot and visit the gym more often? But, well, you really just don't wanna? Well, here is the next best thing from Menards!

That’s a neat looking building. I’ll put it between the MTH McDonald’s and Menard’s Arby’s drive through!!

I am already trying to find room. I have ZERO. And as for the gym....it is too much work to find room so I don't need it. That is above my exercise grade level. lol

That is above my exercise grade level. lol Ha ha ha - I'm in the very same boat. I don't have any room for the Menards bowling alley, which is what I would get if I did have room. But it's very enterprising of Menards to produce these accessories in O scale. I'd support them if I could.

Well, the footprint is only roughly 11" x 6" but it's 7" tall. Too big for my purposes/space but I like it - as an idea.

I started one in the basement at Thanksgiving. I plan in using it for Postwar trains and accessories but did make it 81 curves so I can run my bigger engines that I can not run on the big layout upstairs.

Great minds, etc. -- my "animation showcase" started its current form when I had to strip the previous iteration back to the plywood to install track with wide enough curves to accommodate my newly-acquired Williams GG-1 (there was literally no track on either main or test layout with radius or clearance sufficient to run it, and the supports on the el actually broke from the weight!). Here's a short video of the loop I created for it, with the added foam board, grass mat, and some additional animation pieces, but before I added the 'roads' and fully embedded the animated pieces:

Good thing you have that Pipe foam around the edge. It will help hold it if it leans over. I WOULD STILL BE FREAKING OUT WITH TRACK ON THE EDGE!!!

steveoncattailcreek - Hey, I thought you were a Marx guy! A friend of mine just sent me a box of Marx stuff...figured I might have some questions for you. Yep, I am, but the GG-1 caught my eye and interest, so I needed to create a place to let it run, which also lets me use the few "big L" items that I've acquired or been gifted over the years *and* provides space to play with some animated/lighted pieces I can't fit on the main layout. So, I'll be happy to field any Marx-related questions that you have, and any questions on Marx stuff I can't answer I can pass on to the Marx trains listserv, and a bunch of *real* Marx experts.

Fair point, but I needed every inch to fit track with wide enough radius to avoid derailing. I generally run it at modest speed, and the few times it has derailed, it tends to be just past the beginning of each corner, where there's more real estate to fall over on! So, yes, some danger, but mitigated, and so far, no problem! BTW, if the corners *do* prove to be a problem, I can always add dowel-and-wire fences, as I did on the main layout for the O-27 curves:
