Here goes for this week. I have selected A 1957 Mercury Turnpike Cruiser, one of the best Mercuries ever produced. This one is custom painted. Please join in the fun and post a vehicle as well.

Cars with real wood paneling are really special. Always wanted a Morris Minor Traveller for the wood construction they had in the paneled back half.

It’s exciting to see this series spin back up. This 1959 Impala was a $5 special I found at a show a few weeks back. For that price I think it has fantastic details. The doors and trunk even open.

Since my world is predominantly prewar tinplate, I tend to look for diecast of that era. Atlas, a European subsidiary of Mattel, offers these reproductions of Dinky's from the prewar and immediate-postwar eras. Originally designed by Meccano for use with the Hornby line of toy trains, these work pretty well on the layout: Despite the occasional European makes/models, they can pass for generic American autos, similar to the old Dimestore Dreams line.

Hey, Barry Skelly's Toy Extravaganza will take place again this year on the Sunday after Thanksgiving, November 26th, at the York Fairgrounds. Lots of new, gently used, and beater diecast turns up. This show completes the annual York trifecta and is always a good time. Don't know if this qualifies as "Classic 143", but here's a Corgi #230 dug out of an under-table bin, priced at one dollar. After some hard play, some kid decided to give it a coat of silver enamel. I managed to judiciously remove that down to what was left of the badly chipped/scraped original white paint. After a considerable amount of work, managed to get it back to its approximate original condition: New paint, a set of repro rubber, some buffing of the window "glass", and a minor repair to the steering rack has it back in top form. Even printed a repro box from a disc of box files that I have. The show is only five bucks admission, and it's two buildings (TCA's Silver and Blue Halls) full of stuff. You never know what will turn up.

I was going to say, that’s a Corgi vehicle. I many of them, mostly construction types. Great job on the restoration, Healey. I have a go to site for parts that I used quite a bit when I was restoring Corgi stuff … modelcarparts.com/categorie/dinky-toys-specialTom

Thanks, Tom, and thanks for the link. I think I've bought bits from those guys in the past, although now I predominantly use RecoverToy (located in Australia). I still have a number of Corgi and Dinky toys waiting for some love, lol, but no idea when I'll get to them. RecoverToy
