In the past I did have specific items I was looking for. Found most of what I was looking for over the past two and found the rest on ebay. I mostly go to meet up with some friends. This may be my last York as a TCA member. I”m thinking of just going in April 2024 and pay the $10 to go into the dealer hall. I miss the manufacturers but understand why they are no longer there.

If it wasn't for the fact I'm going as a dealer, I would never leave my recliner. Everything is paid for by TM Book/Video!
It's getting harder for me to get around so I'll be one of those annoying people on electric scooters. Since I like being annoyed I think I'll turn up the juice and see what shakes loose.😁

Denny, If for nothing else, I may come to York to 'see' you rattling around in your scooter. Alfred

I’m sure you’ve all heard that Atlas O and MTH will be attending with their own booths. Looking forward to that!

I certainly miss attending York but mainly for the total experience. A day trip would be ideal but its a 3+ hr drive one way. As I reported earlier it just doesn't make good economic sense for myself to attend anymore. Considering the sharp upward inflation that affects the trip cost; I just wonder how many other attendees and dealers take the same position. Right now and for the immediate future the Allentown meets are my go to events. That is a really good show and doable in an hours drive from where I live.

And I enjoy their show on RFD-TV When we finally got FIOS (had nothing but antenna in our area, No cable or FIOS, I had a dish) we got the package (at an extra cost) that had RFD. Lasted two years then RFD pulled out of FIOS. SUCKS!!! I really liked that channel for trains and tractors.

Not even sure if you need to pay for it. www.rfdtv.com/

I take it back, looks like some of their content is behind a paywall, but may be worth it if you enjoy what they offer.

Right now and for the immediate future the Allentown meets are my go to events. That is a really good show and doable in an hours drive from where I live. York is 90 minutes for me one way, however my night vision isn't what it used to be so in April I stayed overnight for the first time ever. Within that 2 day time frame I had a more relaxing experience than doing the one day sprint. As an attendee only I could not justify staying more that two days; too much Honey Do things to tackle at home for that to fly. That being said, by early reserving in May I found a nice Hotel in York for $99.00 for the night. If you eat where the locals go to non franchise chains you will likely get a better meal at a lower cost. For me the largest expense was the stupid amount of trains that I bought. That fiscal pain is self inflicted and can be avoided or minimized. If you can't get to York, I am with you that the Allentown meets are a great consolation prize. That meet is for me what York is to you travel time wise. It makes for a long day. When I go, I go up the afternoon before and stay the night. On my way home I hit Hennings and Nick Smith's. It is one way to justify the trip!

His son Jeff McComas has been making videos, but they turned studio into the I Love Toy Trains store.

Well, we’re all getting a bit long in the tooth, I guess. Tom had a great run...end of an era. Hopefully Jeff can pick it up.
