As promised here are a series of photos of Christmas 2023 to give you a sense of what is going on that you may miss in the video. The town changes are minimal as noted in the first three photos, two new trucks, and some winter birch trees. No dinosaurs this time just two crazy extreme sports polar bears on a tobagen, on one mountain. The Lionel Zombie mountain tunnels have been switched out for Polar Express versions more suitable to the eye, and season. Trains are MTH North pole streamlined passenger set, an MTH Christmas freight which has yet to have the consist placed on the track, and last but not least the Lionel NPC Doodlebug. Once I have selected the freight cars, and have my basic remote control sets all paired up and ready to go a video will be forthcoming about mid week. Great photos! The Christmas layout is looking great! Hey, is that a record collection in the background on one of the photos? I too collect records.

Yes Adam, indeed those are records you see. I have thousands in the next room all nicely racked, and stacked. If I showed you photos you would not believe the extent of my depravity.

Chuck, Looking forward to the video. Why not get one of those LPs and play it as background music for the video? Alfred

Chuck, Looking forward to the video. Why not get one of those LPs and play it as background music for the video? Alfred Alfred, what I have avoided photographing is all the HI Fi gear that I have jammed against and out from the front wall of the room to allow for the layout. If I could play music I certainly would!

Quick update, when I switched from transformer control to basic (cheapest) MTH remote command I discovered that even with the smoke unit at off, it still operates and cannot be disabled only minimized. I am waiting for those precision smoke fluid dispensers from Mega Smoker for my Imperial diesel to arrive tomorrow.
There is many a slip between the cup and the lip is a saying that never rang so true for the uninitiated operator.

Raw Christmas Layout videos are on the way.
If you would like to see more detail of the Lemax structures, I will be happy to shoot another video for those Lemax lovers among us. The first two videos are with the lights mostly out taken on the same side of the layout from different ends.
The third video is with the lights on to get a better view of the layout itself.
Oh and the annoying clacking sound is the Lemax Nutcracker Factory, not any of the trains. I don't think it is supposed to make that sound unless that is the QC Department is cracking some nuts to verify proper operation! Except for the noise the operation is smooth and as it should be so who knows?!
I hope you all enjoy the raw videos.

Wow! That is an awesome Christmas layout! The lights are fantastic. Thanks for sharing! Thanks Adam, glad you enjoyed the lighted Fastrack. With all the pickups from the MTH engine, tender and cars, it looks as though the train is traveling on a carpet of light. The North Pole track configuration is different than that of Spookytown. With the lighted track I wanted to get more by pass action between the outer track excursion train and the North Pole fantasy train at several spots around the layout. The Doodlebug was for simplicity and to give the local elves something to get around in style. Also since this its after all the North Pole I wanted to spread out the structures a bit and not have that concentrated carnival/theme park feel of Spookytown.

And as an added bonus here is our more modest G Scale layout with a gang of onlookers watching nearby. The train is courtesy of a Piko mini Mogul starter set with some add on ore cars and unusual cargo/occupants. I prefer Piko because of their Americana 40s-60s theme and fine graphics on the tender and cars. For perspective the adult spectators are 5'6" tall. I chose a so called pencil tree to permit better viewing of the train and Christmas Garden. The pencil tree also allows for more real estate for the larger G scale buildings.
