Perhaps we should name the first domed city. . . "Toldyaso" How hot does it have to get, how big do the storms have to get, before we believe.

My grandmother told me that the 1920's was the hottest she ever remembered, remember the mid 1970's when we we're being told that we were moving into ice age? Yes we are moving into a warmer period but is the end of world coming because of it. No I don't think so. It would be better if we cared more of the earth. The climate will not kill us but the constant wars, nuclear weapons, countries like Russia, China, Africa, Middle east, starvation just may do it before anything else. Why can we give the Ukraine $100 billion dollars++ and Many others yet we have starving children and adults right here in America. We should take care of our own before anybody else. Wanna blame somebody, blame the Republicans, democrats, or any party and the corrupt politicians in any public job, they are mostly out for themselves before the citizens of this great Country. I am not saying everyone is incompetent or corrupt but too many are. This has to change but I just don't know we have the will to do it.
Dave
Ps, I had to go over what I wrote above with a magnifying glass, so please excuse me for any mistakes.

I have 2 thoughts on this subject, one on EVs and one on climate change.
1) I am neither for nor against EVs. At this time they are not practical for most people. We have friends that own a Tesla and they love it. It has a range of about 350 miles (they charge it in their garage overnight) making is very practical for everyday use. They also have a gasoline vehicle for longer trips. My beef is not with EVs but with the government trying to force them on us. If EVs are better than petroleum powered vehicles there will be no need to force people to switch. We will voluntarily switch to EVs.
I read an article a couple of weeks ago that said that Toyota is working on batteries for EVs that are smaller, lighter, and cheaper than those in use today, plus they will have a range of about 700 miles and will recharge in 10 minutes. If they are successful in producing these batteries it will make EVs cheaper to buy and much more practical to use. No government intervention needed.
2) Climate change is natural and has been happening for thousands of years. The earth's temperature rises and falls over long periods of time. No reasonably informed person doubts climate change. The government and their propaganda outlets like to frame opponents as climate deniers which is completely untrue. The real debate is whether human activity has any effect on climate. Scientists are split on this issue. Some think that we can either mitigate or exacerbate the temperature to some small degree and others think the forces that create climate change are so large that our efforts to affect it are useless or too negligible to be of any value.
The politicians pushing the radical climate agenda don't believe any of the crap they spew. This is obvious to anyone since they exempt Africa and Asia from all measures to end this supposedly existential crises. Over 90% of the world's pollution comes from Africa and Asia. Any real effort to mitigate the increase in temperature would require Africa and Asia to participate in the climate program. If the US went to zero emissions it would have virtually no effect on climate.
Climate change has nothing to do with climate and everything to do with totalitarian globalist power. I must say that I agree with both of the above points and could not possibly have put them better myself. I'm only adding to them based on my own experience/learning.
My wife has a hybrid vehicle - a Toyota - which we mostly use. The gas mileage is truly exceptional at basically 60 mpg. We don't take long trips by car any more but this car is really cost-efficient for our purposes.
We got it for that reason and I deeply resent eco-warriors who want to force this sort of transport on us in a form of political correctness or, just as bad or worse, gesture and guilt trip politics. I think that the thing that agitates me most is what Joe refers to about foreign countries being effectively exempt from this sort of thing by the very people who want to foist restrictions on us. I have been in Shanghai, China once and you could cut the air with a knife because it was so polluted. Nothing forced on people in the West is going to make a difference so long as the most populous countries in the world are spewing out carbon emissions.
But the basic issue is whether emissions make the crucial difference that we are expected to accept they do. Natural forces dictate that there will be another ice age in a mere 1,500 years, which is practically nothing in terms of geological time. The Earth frequently goes through periods of increased heat or cold and even wildfires are a natural phenomenon throughout recorded history. Totalitarian types refuse to recognize this because it does not suit their purpose of telling the rest of us what to do.

Thanks for letting me know. So . . . Any ev's in 1:43 available. At least we can change the layout of the future. Domed city? They can’t get domed stadiums to work right!
Yes, it’s been hot. Sometimes. I’m guessing that’s because it’s summertime! When it’s 90 degrees in Churchill, Manitoba in January it might make me go, hmmmmm. At the Padres - Giants ballgame this afternoon it was 74 degrees and breezy.
Yes there is a problem. It’s the media’s alarmist reporting. Nature always replenishes itself. There were storms, heat and cold around the world before 1980, before the alarmists were born.
Tomorrow’s Padres - Phillies first pitch forecast, 73 degrees and mostly sunny!

If I found my self in the position to get a new vehicle, and all I could get, it would be done as a lease. Not until I feel more confident about them.

The Passing of the Horse
The silent horse power of this runabout is measurable, dependable and spontaneous. The horse power generated by supplies of hay and oats is variable, uncertain and irresponsive.

Dave Ps, I had to go over what I wrote above with a magnifying glass, so please excuse me for any mistakes. If we didn't help Ukraine then Putin would go after one of the other NATO countries and that would mean American soldiers would have to fight. He wants the old Russian empire back.
As far as giving money to Ukraine the Repubs voted NO on Biden's Infrastructure Bill and the Inflation Reduction Act to help the American people. Desantis said NO for Florida getting the money. He really cares about his people. He turned down 350 million dollars.
You should see how nice all the streets in my subdivision look after being redone.
Way to go Joe !

Ouch!
Yes, fighting a proxy war is better, although just as expensive, than sending our kids to war. But it’d be nice to use some of that money to secure our borders too.
I doubt a dime from the Destruction by Inflation Act has fixed anybody’s streets. It’s a ten year plan that hasn’t paid for anything yet. Of the estimated $437 billion (that’s billion, with a “b”) $369 billion is allocated to climate change initiatives and “green energy” facilities. Not to the American people.
The Congressional Budget Office estimates the cumulative deficit would be around $52.5 billion over the next four years, at least $110 billion through fiscal year 2031, and more beyond that!
That’s just the tip of the iceberg. Why do you think that after this bill was passed the democrats lost control of the House?
