As I go through the wrap up phase of my new display/layout, I made me wonder how many of our members have a new build in progress or are planning on one?

There is Not another layout at this stage of my life but I like improving the layout I have. Every year I find ways to improve the layout I have. it can be adding a few buildings or just rearranging what I have but you can bet I will be involved in this hobby till the Lord calls me home. No matter the size or completion of your layout its all about the fun with family and friends.

I do envision a new layout in my future, but it will be at least 3 or 4 years before i can get started. The delay is mostly related to work and kids. I plan to take over a significant portion of the basement and really have fun!

I'll be starting a new layout this fall but it will be N scale. I'm looking forward to the new project.

Maybe, I'll know more clearly in about a month. Alfred Adam, 'taking over the basement' - your plan is to get rid of the water heater AND the HVAC? Joe, good success with your plans - keep us posted.

That’s right, those utilities just take up too much room and cost me money. Who needs heat when we have trains!

I'm thinking about possibilities, but it would be a major under taking.

My layout has been languishing because of outside interference (taking care of aging parents) and procrastination trying to figure out what I want it to be. Will it be permanent or a temporary layout? As the parent situation evolves so does our future plans. That put an end to having a building constructed on our property for the trains.
I'm also dealing with difficulty downsizing from my previous layout. My equipment is all scale size and they were purchased with the previous large layout in mind. So with this layout being 7X smaller my passenger equipment can't stretch their legs like before. Right now I'm in a new design phase trying to shoehorn a 33" turntable and a 36" 10 stop transfer table in the space.
It's coming in some form and will be documented here.

It’s hard to say that I have a new-build in progress, but technically it is…..even if I’ve been at it for four years. 😉

I have ongoing a new layout. Smaller yet more manageable with less trackage, switches and freeing up a closet storage trackage which trackage went into the rooms layout. I'm about 40% down. Trackage is down and were my town, roads, etc. are going. Wiring and scenery and small stuff is on going and waiting for needed ordered items to arrive. I'm looking forward to running my first train through the layout. Now its just pushing cars around to check and double check clearances. I been lucky in selling most my switches and trackage I no longer need as well as several structures. Until one tears a layout down, one,(me), didn't realize how much one,(me), had.

I am putting together 2 layouts for my older daughters for the xmas holidays. will be on sturdy 031 track. consists are Lionel 671 with smoke bulb and Lionel 681. all postwar cars including hoopers, tank cars, gondolas, box cars and cabooses. the temp layouts feature several Marx and Lionel signals including bell ringers and Marx 417 switch towers. Also have some pristine American flyer girder bridges. They are both powered with rebuilt Lionel 1033 transformers. Both layouts also have Lionel prewar tunnels.
