I do not believe that these make a actual set but the cars may have been from a actual set and this engine was placed with them, let me explain. The engine appears to be of a MTH remake of a Lionel #9E. ( reason I say that is, MTH will have a brass plated that says Bilt-a-Motor N.Y.C. Lines, The Lionel version say Bilt-A-Motor Lionel Lines.) That and it has a McCoy motor in it. Now the cars all look original Prewar cars with original paint and scratches LOL. There is a 514R refrigerator car, a 515 Terra-cotta tank car, a 516 red hopper, & a green with red roof 517 caboose.

Well then last night I came across the correct cars for the engine. So now I have another set of passenger cars.
I think the lighter green is wrong shade on the engine or the cars not sure which.

Or may just be my camera. Or the camera of the person who took these pics, as I know that my Canon and my Pentax produces different shades from each other.

So now I'm going to be looking for a Orange 9E again in about a month or so. Need to give my wallet a break after yesterdays purchases lol. I also bought a 431 in Majave.

Tinplate trains can be quite charming. Unfortunately, they tend to feed our addiction for trains all too easily. I dabbled in Standard Gauge tinplate trains several years ago… realized VERY quickly it was a temptation that was getting tough to resist… and made a serious mid-course correction to sell them all and stick with general O-Gauge / O-Scale.
I kept a few O-Gauge tinplate trains as a remembrance of those years. But I haven’t looked back on my decision, because we all have our limits!!! 🤣

I'm trying to slim down some but keeping the ones I really like, Mainly I have had a weakness for passenger sets ( always have.) But plan to keep my best pullers and a set of freight cars. I know I went overboard on the 402's and 418, 419, & 490. ( and the 431 I have obtain( hard to get when price isn't over the moon) So I have moved on from those at least in Mojave, LOL.
The light green set the engine is a 408 and the cars are 418, 419, 431, & 490 The orange set of cars are 418, 431, & 490. ( I'm in the process of repainting a Mojave 419 to Orange 419 ).
So as for freight I plan to keep 1 of each and sell the rest as is. some are nice, some are runners.

rtraincollector, very nice collection of engines and sets. The Cannon and Pentax - the old school ones with shutters? I don't know if those brands ever went digital. Alfred(If the collecting becomes a problem, call 1-800-SGA-STOP)

Alfred(If the collecting becomes a problem, call 1-800-SGA-STOP) My Pentax K-70 is digital as is my Canon T-6, I still have my K-1000, back in the day I wouldn't trade it for anything, my brother had a canon AE1 and thought it was top of the line until I showed him some of my photography I did with my K-1000. I just new how to use it better than he knew how to use his. When digital first came out, I was asked if I was shooting with a digital camera and the answer was no. I was good then I put it all down for about 10 years and got lazy with a digital camera. I should break out my K-1000 as found out who Wal-green uses they send your photos back in digital format. I did a volunteer job for Muscle Dystrophy in Tallahassee and they like my wife's and mine pictures better than a professional photographer for the news paper. I still do good with my K-70 when I put my mind to it lol.

Rearranged some of them, so it's more appealing/eye catching First how it was and then how it is now

And how the other side is going to look. The Mojave second shelf up, those are the MTH remake sample cars, the bottom shelf is where the two tone Green cars will go, eventually I will clear the top off and put my prewar 390E and 500 series freight cars. Need to get pic of other side of room where I now have on top shelf there my 400E and 200series freight cars.

I hope to find a Standard Gauge Blue Comet tinplate set one day when/if the prices come back to earth. It will be run around the tree at Christmas.

Ga. Bits and pieces were all found locally, and I still have my boyhood clockwork Hornby set. There’s enough SG track to have a simple layout and I like to have them in running condition. A few American Flyer and Marx items are around here somewhere, but that’s about it. Dave
