Simple choice:
Pay a lot more and make our trains here again OR have them made by our low-wage communist friends in China and Vietnam, and put up with the unpredictable delivery and quality this comes with.

IMO it is more than simply lower wages, it is also environmental regulations here. No I am not suggesting we get into that tangent, but seriously. We did not want to pollute our water, land, air. Let China and elsewhere pollute theirs. Unfortunately all rivers/streams end up in the ocean, and air moves around the globe.

Dave But if you’re going to buy them when delivered anyway, why cancel the preorder? You’ll wait for delivery but not the preorder? Dave, it sounds like you need a Snickers bar!

Sorry Brian but I don't like to wait. This is why I have never liked the BTO way of buying. I'll get them if I like them and they are made correctly. Will I miss any of them, maybe but that is ok.

Mid October now, maybe RMT is waiting for York? Thanks el - I was wondering about my woodchip cars. I’d almost forgotten about them. I assume the truck problem with the ore cars snarled things up, but who knows. Dave

Looks like a few custom-run wood chip cars for Pats Trains are in-stock at his store now. The RMT website says other roadnames will start to ship in Nov 2024.

Fellow Detroit 3 Railers will be there at Pat's on Tuesday to pick up the first set of wood chip cars. I will ask for them to send photos

OOF Game over for me. The trucks have triple springs with roller bearings. Way too modern for the cars or my modeling. Too bad because the details are amazing. Here is a great review from PHG :

Actual PS1 box car doesn’t match the web site ad / artwork. 40' cars are supposed to contain Bettendorf trucks, not modern roller-bearing. Identical match in and out to Lionel's body and interior load.
Actually, non of the cars trucks match the web site advertisement.
Rev. Waiting on the Betterdorf trucks to be available.
