Adam, Great idea to use the i-pod for a movie screen - nothing wrong with recycling electronics. By the way, you don't have to be locked in to a drive-in. you can have the diner next to it - then you can have a huge parking lot. Alfred That’s what I’m thinking Alfred. Why not have both!

In a previous post, I had mentioned that after I finished the accessory installation on the central loop ( which contains the covered bridge), I would avoid making any significant modifications on the layout in 2023 (including track connection between this loop and the larger outer loop). After running some trains yesterday on these loops and noting how two trains came in close proximity to one another, I decided that I might renew my plans to make East and West blocks on the main layout (which I laid aside for a while, so that I could have three trains running at the same time – and therefore they could all be arriving simultaneously in the central part of the layout at surface level. If I get ambitious and creative, I could include the elevated track section in one of the operating blocks; and therefore have one of the trains running overhead. What a dilemma – enjoy running trains, or put my layout in temporary disarray. Alfred

I think I'm finally starting to hone in on the layout design I think I want to build. Anyone got any suggestions as to a book or YouTube video to help with all the basics to give me a good direction on getting things right or how to do certain things?

Start a new thread right here on the main O gauge board with your layout updates as well as any questions. We would love to follow along with your layout build and will try our best to answer any questions.

I have not changed my mind,;to this point, about holding off on creating West and East side blocks on my layout – this will free up time to run trains. I am going to finish the independent Central Loop. I have finished installing incandescent lamps in the Covered Bridge (I am not going to troubleshoot/ fix the non-working LEDs at this time.) The milk car stand was going to be moved to the Central Loop to make room for the barrel loader; however, I have changed my mind am am going to keep it in the West side Loop (on the East side of the loop), just up the tracks a bit from the loader. Since the refrigerated milk car is quite heavy, I want to keep it off consists running on the Central Loop – I will run other operating cars there. Alfred

I started my Layout in 2007 still working on it and still learning.

Okay I just reread this thread from the start. It has left me with a big question. There is a lot of chatter about what everyone is going to do, but I do not see any one saying anything about the progress although Alfred has hinted that his dilemma is still in motion. Traindiesel, you wrote an extremely interesting post about what you are going to do but I have only seen a very detailed list of the thought process. Where are the pictures of this layout being constructed. I love looking at progress pictures. Some have ask about wiring, Etc., well here is the chance to help them and let us see progress. Let's see pictures or video's people. I love reading the plans and seeing the progress we all make.
Opps! Just realized I need to put into practice what I am preaching.
Anyhow, can I hear about progress everyone has made and maybe see a video or picture? I will try to do the same.
Curtis
