It’s not What’s on the tracks?, it’s What’s near the tracks? And What’s happened to the tracks? I have relocated a 262 highway crossing gate from the center of the layout to adjacent to the mainline track on the South side, and relocated a block signal to a position between the mainline track and spur on the South side. I have re-connected all 12 switches, so that they are more sensibly paired. Train operation is better now, fewer locations where the O22 non-derailing feature needs to occur, and fewer controller throws are needed (only two for the whole system.). Alfred

Have re-connected the 12 O22 switches, with a new pairing configuration (operating on fixed 14 V). Track system works properly after fixing a voltage leak problem (partially broken plug). Much better train travel through the various routes. Running PRR #250 2-4-2 (Lionel) , a New Haven box, Lehigh Valley hopper, Lionel single-dome tank, Lionel gondola, Lionel SP-type caboose. Will trade out Lionel Lines rolling stock for other road names, and use a lighted PRR caboose.. Need to adjust controller bulbs and switch lanterns. Having a good time. Alfred

Adam, I am now getting to run trains, The set I ran I got about 17 years ago in an online bid with a 1034 transformer - good price. Very good condition for a set from 1957. (only needed a new cord and a screw adjust on the loco) Alfred

I don't want to monopolize this thread. I would enjoy hearing from others and know what they are running. I find it interesting to hear about the train details and your comments. Alfred -

I am in favor of Alfred and anybody else posting what they run - in fact there’s no monopoly, it’s just fun to see what other people are doing! Personally I spend too much time at the workbench and not enough running trains, so it’s great to see what others are doing. Since I took no photos in the last running session and probably won’t have another one for a month, it’s great to see other people’s efforts.

Adam, looking forward to your next run. Country Joe, no problem with running the same consists - if it's not broke, don't fix it. Alfred

harborbelt70, I find myself doing the same thing - just one more change on the layout, and then I'll run - and then the trains don't get run for a while. I then have to live vicariously through the description of the runs that others post. Alfred

I am running a set I just purchased from Adam. GS-4 Northern #4449 with 5 cars. WOW does this thing smoke. Once around the layout and it looks like a major thick fog moved in.

There are two Lionel versions that normally smoke out a room very quickly, one Legacy and one VL, and an MTH version that is not far short of the same effect!

I’ve got three prototypical eras on the tracks. Upper loop is a modern GP-40 freight, Boston and Maine of course. Lower outer loop I still have my B&M f-unit assisted by the SW-9 on passenger duty. And finally on the lower inner loop we have an 1800s style ten wheeler pulling passenger coaches from the same era.
