Dave, you are running 4 excellent trains! I especially love the NYC freight.

I finally got to run a train – after a long time of layout repair work. I don’t usually run freight with Santa Fe FA’s in the red and silver livery; however, I had to run trains before I got any more frustrated with layout issues. It was great being at the throttle. At the end of the session, I backed it up, without issue, into my newly created spur – where it awaits runs for tonight – I’ve got to try more routes. (The switch and track are on track voltage. After I pull a train out, I throw the switch and toggle power off. All other switches are on auxiliary.) The consist I ran was from my childhood – Lionel 218 AA with Tuscan PRR box car 3484, Blue B&O automobile box car 6468, and gray SP 6017 caboose. Got some nice speed on the Eastbound Northside main line. Alfred

Right now I've got my Halloween trains running. MTH Diesel engine (orange and black) and matching Halloween cars. Track 2 is the Lionel Legacy "Hallows Eve" and tender with some K-Line die cast coal hoppers behind. The Lionel makes great smoke that will sync with the Horn on the 2nd smoke unit. Very cool.

Regrettably, the only track I have had up lately is a short section of test track for my SP dome car project - but as it glowed like a Christmas Tree when powered up (my usual Rube Goldberg wiring actually worked) I got some pre-holiday season enjoyment out of it:

This type of thread is one of my favorites. I really appreciate it when all of you give text descriptions of the concepts you are running. It gives clarity, detail, and a personal touch. Thanks. Alfred

I’m still running Amtrak (Genesis and Amfleet cars) on the upper level but I changed the engines on the freight trains on the lower main. Trump Train SD70 2024 is pulling one train and Trump Train ES44 2020 is pulling the other. I turned off the diesel roar on the engines so the only sound is the wheels on the rails and the occasional horn.

A very nice model. But I once saw a timber-framed house go up in smoke and there were a lot more flames than smoke. Fortunately it was unoccupied at the time.
