I was disappointed with mine until I removed the plastic window. Now I'm getting decent image quality and having fun with it. What are your experiences with them?

Hi Mitch. Cheryl and I picked up the U.P. Cupola Camera Caboose. When we finally get to run it I hope the video quality is as good as yours. If it is I will do a backflip and then Cheryl will call for an ambulance. Like the military models too.
Gary.

CHARLIE, I got one too, mine is a distorted so I will try taking out the window too. I waved back to YUZ GUYZ too. Got a big kick out of the video, thanks.

Terrific video, Charlie. Good suggestion to change the window.

I had preordered the UP, and I waited a long time. It was one of 2-3 road names that got pushed back to a second run because the factory ran out of cameras. It’s a beautiful piece, but the picture was blurry until the window was taken out. Now I’m having a lot of fun with it.

I know the next run of these were just delivered to dealers. Ryan said that they were improving the video quality on these and doing something about the glass reflection especially on the next run of theater cars.
I heard that it is not very easy to take the glass out. Was it hard for you to take it out? Here is a video from this past Spring of mine with the glass still inserted....

Easy way and hard way to remove the window......I chose the easy way by applying a small amount of force to the glass causing it to fall inside the cupola (for safe keeping😜)

I was wondering if you could safely push the window out. Seems a lot easier as long is it doesn't damage the camera lens.

The camera is mounted so tightly to the window that mine required me to take the shell off the caboose to remove the window. It's worth the effort to clean up the image quality.

The lens almost touches the window. Great if you can push the window out, but chancy.

The difference in the video quality with the plastic window glass removed is dramatic.
I don't have one of these and don't have plans to buy one but that may change at some point. It does give an interesting view of the layout.
