Joe you are really making progress. Looks great.
Touched up roundhouse paint (again) and started on doors and pillars. Dennis must have given us too many... it looks like hundreds, all neatly labeled, counted out, and packaged. 😯

LAYOUT? WHAT layout?? as I have said before. But YOUZ GUYZ are TROUBLEMAKERS - again. And the troublemaker-in-chief is GARY who encouraged me to think about having a station building. Well done, Mr Maple Leaf, but you are named after a town close to my heart.
Actually it was recent thread here that got me thinking to begin with and then remembering Trey's (Volphin's) virtually whole house Christmas carpet/hard floor layout, complete with ready-made buildings.
Plus, I am as much an architecture buff as I am interested in real trains. But with every other (unfinished) project I have going, I simply could not contemplate building a kit.
So after reconciling myself to the fact that I really don't have room for a model like Union Station Denver or Chicago, or the fine Albuquerque Station pictured recently, I ordered a modest-size and discounted Santa Fe Depot from the Train Dame of Trainworx:
It sort of reminds me of the structures on the old Museum of Science and Industry O scale layout. When the carpet track is up, this will temporarily sit by the stretch that passes in front of the TV unit.

Been working on reorganizeing my train layout space, more commonly called the Basement. After the purchase of my Lionel Superliner set it became apparent I could not park all of the units on the layout. Shelves were need. The basement walls are all stone work so the only place for shelves was on the edge of the layout. That would also enhance the appearance of the layout. On the North long side there is space for 4 12" shelves. I ordered Glen Snyder shelf racks and started building a box to house the shelves. It is 12 feet long and 2 feet hight. The last picture shows blocks of wood under the second shelf and that is for placement. The shelves are attached to the back and the blocks will disappear. Hope to finish this in a couple of more days. Wood, your basement needs to be in some National Register of Places of Outstanding Beauty! Now with this fine storage I have an even bigger case of basement envy. Look forward to seeing your Superliners in place (mine unfortunately live out of sight - but safe - in a very wide drawer).

As a modeler we only see the mistakes and never believe it is beautiful. This forum is so supportive and I love that about all of you. The basement is a wonderful spot, cool in the summer and never too cold in the winter. You will find your spot someday and will enjoy building your layout.

Joe, the building and billboards look great. I especially love the Smith Brothers billboard.
RJ, I spent lots of time moving buildings around on my layout before I was satisfied. Running a third train will add a lot of action and interest.
Andy, that station looks fabulous. Does it come with the people and the baggage cart?
Bill, the roundhouse is a big project but is a great way to keep engines on the layout and will be a major focus point on your layout.
Wood, those shelves are a great addition to your layout. 4 12' long shelves will store lots of equipment. Now you can buy more locos and rolling stock!!!
Like Andy I also have a case of basement envy. Don't get me wrong, I have a very nice train room and I'm grateful for it. It's a bigger and better space than many guys have, but I am somewhat envious of you guys with big basements.

It's meant to be as advertised and I assume that the figures/cart are part of the package. Actually I might ask Train Dame to confirm. Of course I won't be seeing it until later on this summer as they are built and hand finished one-by-one. (Even as I contemplate the painting likely to be involved I know I could not have constructed even something this relatively small from a kit!)

Thanks Gary and all. It is finished. 3 complete consists. K-Line Midnight Chief, Lionel Canadian Pacifc and back in the corner/bottom shelf the K-line Plymouth Kennecott Copper Consists. Plus several engines. The open space worries me a little. What am I going to buy??

No Wood, that open space is not good. It upsets the balance, the Chi, the Chakra and, not to mention, the Feng Shui. You must fill it with more trains ASAP.
