Looking at the photos Lionel Posted on Facebook and Instagram, if you look behind Ryan and the TV on the left, It appears to be the next Vision Line Loco, in the form of a Class A. Which has been on the wish lists of many people for years.

Check out my York Perspectives thread for a couple of photos of the locomotive and the poster specs that highlight features and the different models being offered.

This will make Bill Webb very happy. I like the high gloss finish.

Yep, that large poster certainly looks to be a Class A.

This model only has curiosity value for me but I find what Lionel is doing with it interesting. Lionel has now posted a short promo video with the promise of an “Easter Egg” feature to be announced next year:
Otherwise the feature set is similar to recent VLs like the GS steamers. The gloss painted model on display at York is actually a 3D printed mock-up at least as far as the body shell is concerned. (I’m in favor of models that are painted to match restored engines with present-day paint finishes; the manufacturers could in fact do this with a number of models.) A guy over on OGR has posted numerous photos of this on a thread originally about what the next VL engine might be:
ogrforum.ogaugerr.com/topic/will-a-new-vision-line-locomotive-be-revealed-at-york-this-year?page=2
All pretty intriguing but as far as I am concerned I am mostly very happy for people who wanted this engine done with Legacy features. I got my wish with the Veranda Turbines although exactly when we’ll be seeing them is unknown.

Maybe the special feature announcement will be cylinder steam effect.

New Special Feature may be something not done yet, I’m guessing it will be and auger like screw spinning between engine and tender to simulate an Auger.

Might be kind of hard to do that with the kinematic drawbar arrangement on these, which will probably be identical to the VL GS series and Niagara. As it has three smoke features already I don't know if they would add another, and cylinder smoke would be more complicated than on the non-articulated steamers I think it has been put in before. But I suppose dynamo steam is possibility.
Anyway, with this sort of approach Lionel is generating interest. VL "Easter Egg" features used to be unannounced until the models shipped.

I'm assuming the new feature will be a higher price!! Dave That wouldn’t be new! Seriously, it appears that Ryan has said it will be something not done before, so depleting coal load, cylinder steam, swinging bell (my fave), water scoop and dynamo steam are all out. Nice way to generate interest.

But that's a guess though.

TOM, I have been wanting that for a few years now. Every time a train passes the Engineers always waves. Maybe….?
