OK, I couldnāt take the pinkness of the foam any more. I dug out some cans of semi-solid old house paint and went to work on my basalt cliff scene. Iāve always been cagey about jumping into the scenery phase but itās worked out well so far. Dave

Dave, what is your technique for texturing the center of the foam? The big cuts look great but I think the little dimples add great depth. Is it painted or sculpted?

Dave, what is your technique for texturing the center of the foam? The big cuts look great but I think the little dimples add great depth. Is it painted or sculpted? Thank you. I used a heavy hot foam-cutting blade to slice up the styrofoam and a serrated knife to give it some texture including the slashes. The finer texture was done by scraping the serrated knife sideways along the foam pieces, breaking some out. Some folks use needlenose pliers to pluck out pieces for finer texture. Dave

Not much to report as Iāve been in locomotive repair mode amongst other train-related stuff. However, I found the MTH station building I was looking for at a non-ridiculous priceā¦ on Ebay of all places! šš Of course, first placement on the layout needs a photoā¦ Onward and upward, Dave Attachments:
