Thanks Gary. I did consider painting the stripes, but I had good luck with decals in the past. It was unfortunate that the K4 decals were transparent. That spurred me to repaint the silver in a larger area, so the decals would work. Well they didn’t, so I ended up with a bit too much silver. The Microscale stripes were just right and I like the control they offer when putting them on. Well today, I remasked and repainted the blue so the silver would be eliminated. It worked well and the car received a Humbrol clear glossy varnish that came out extremely well. This first car was a venture in experimentation and I have the process down for the rest of them. The shiny edges of the window bands reflect light but the silver is now eliminated in the right places. Next, a really “flashy” paint scheme for my next boxcar. Again, it is a Weaver 40’ done in boxcar red and lettered for the Chicago, West Pullman and Southern railroad. I know, pretty drab actually. It was another K4 set that fit the slightly smaller Weaver car just right. A typical WW2 paint scheme featuring some austerity... Tom
