Last years Oct show. While the show its self was a dud for me. 611 was in Strasburg, and that was by far the best experience you can have.

York has always been a spring trip for me. So in the fall I'm usually tuning in remotely to find out what the happenings are in the train world.

I remember the first time I stood in the Orange Hall. My mouth must have been hanging open. A fellow walked up to me and ask if I was overwhelmed. I told him that's like telling someone standing in front of a tidal wave they might feel a little moisture.
I enjoy walking around all the halls and talking trains with several people. Meeting Steve Nelson (Mr. Muffin), or meeting and talking to Joe Grzyboski and Harry Heike and Viki. Not to mention all the great deals if you know where to look.

My first York Meet was so memorable. I met the nicest folks who were so helpful to me. These members directed me to the vendors for the 36" turntable and an 8 stall roundhouse that I specifically went to the Meet to obtain.
Never will forget their kindness.

Last October was our first York meet. Met wonderful people. Had a great meal at the Olive Garden and fantastic conversation. Unfortunately Big Chief Yellow Bear wasn't there. Hit the Orange Hall on Friday. A plethora of trains, trains, and more trains!! Talked with vendors that we do business with on a regular basis. Nice to put faces to voices. Treated like family. Snapped up a couple of good deals as well. We will go back again, mainly for the people and to pick up treasures garnered this year.
Gary and Cheryl.

So its Wednesday Evening. We would have just left the TCA Museum. Hearing and discussing what items Ryan Kunkle from Lionel and Mike from MTH would have shown and displayed, then be heading to Smokey Bones for the TTOS get together and a few pints!

Lots of memories from York. I remember my first ever purchase on my first visit in October 1981. In the Blue Hall I bought a big box of Super O track that included six switches. It was also my first lesson, as when I got home I realized the switches were broken. But, undaunted, I used them to model an abandoned train yard.
I remember, and really miss, the huge open pit barbecues in the parking areas between halls in the 1980s. Big sides of beef and other meats smelled so good.
But last year’s October Meet was the most fun! We flew in on Tuesday afternoon and had dinner at Round The Clock Diner. Went to Strasburg Wednesday morning for a few hours the back to the hotel in York to relax a bit before meeting up with some of my former Northern Central Hirailers group for an elegant dinner outside of York.
Thursday through Saturday it was a constant parade of seeing friends, trains and having meals. And of course, our bi-annual lunch at Latucca’s for an awesome cheesesteak and chocolate milkshake. They always know the “train show” is in town when they see us!
On Saturday, after they played “Happy Trails” on the Fairgrounds speakers, we drove to Philly to visit my youngest daughter. We picked her up and along with her boyfriend we went to a Flyers game. What a day! Trains, food, seeing my daughter and Flyers hockey!!
After spending the night in Philly, on Sunday we drove up to the NewJersey Hirailers party. Leaving in mid afternoon we drove down to Baltimore to stay there overnight for our flight home on Monday.
I didn’t want to go home, I wanted to do it all over again!

My first York was April 1985 and attended every single one till last Aprils was cancelled. Always took a vacation week twice a year to go to york. Lets hope April 2021 is a go but I believe October will be the first one back.

I've been to 2 Yorks, April 2016 and April 2019. Meeting forum friends in person is probably the best memory, but buying my Aerotrain at York in 2016 is also one of the best memories.

So this is the DAY! I would be sprinting from Orange Hall to blue and silver about now. Looking for gold. Usually key people that I met at last York that I found good deals. If I have not spent 1,000 bucks already... in the next hour I would be reaching that amount.
