I think repairing it myself is the best option. Lionel emailed me and said I could buy the part when it comes available. It leads me to think they probably don’t have the pilot for this engine. It would probably languish in their repair dept until the part comes available.

Tackling a break involving beefy parts is probably a job for a small butane torch. I can't comment on the characteristics of resistance soldering but if it can entirely reflow the original solder it may be less damaging to the paint. I naturally expect a certain amount of repainting of the area after soldering.

I just check my 4-4-6T and it appears ok. Tom, I hope your able to get yours to the point it isn't a issue or noticeable. Thanks again for the heads up to check.
