Thanks everyone. I suspect it will be a little bit before I get a permanent set up going but will definitely get a decent table up to get some trains running around the holidays.
The stove presents some issues of its own. Mainly how close I get get the layout over there. I also have to keep an approximately 32" path to the laundry room for appliance replacement if needed. There are some challenges but I think I can make it work.

I remember you mentioning the basement flood before and all I can say is "wow!!" about the result of the renovation. That is a very seriously enviable space, stove and all. Very much looking forward to seeing your progress and I wish you happy days with the track planning.

Nice flooring! Good job. Yeah, I see what you mean about that possibly causing some internal dilemma about now covering it with a layout. Big picture though, trains are more important to you than that floor. Looking forward to following your progress with the layout (I hope!).

Flooring looks awesome! Looking forward to watching the build. My traincave had a floating vinyl type flooring the previous owner put in prior to selling the house. I had problems with moisture wicking up through the cement floor and into the tiles. When I dismantled my last layout I decided to remove them. I found they were covering black mastic. That was a joy to remove! Debated on a garage flooring paint kit but went with regular cement floor paint. No moisture problems since.
