The Worlds Greatest Hobby has cancelled all their shows through the end of 2021. Wow! 2021? I guess we had better get used to it. Time for us to make our own private events.

That Greenberg write-up almost has a demoralizing element to it that really concerns me. Without getting political here, that's precisely one of the intangible costs that we talk about with this dang pandemic. The mind-games and roller-coaster ride of emotions can really push people to get very disillusions. Sadly some shrewd government officials are OK with that up thru November 3rd. And that's all I'm gonna say from a political point of view.
Getting back to the more immediate matters at hand.... small businesses continued to spend money when things began to open. In this case it's train show logistics, planning, and advertisement. More generally speaking for restaurants and such, it's all the costs entrepreneurs have spent to accommodate outdoor dining (i.e., renting tents, buying tables and chairs, etc...), scheduling food supplies, transitioning their business model to delivery/take-out/outdoor-dining, etc... -- only to then get the rug pulled out from underneath them again. So it's MORE lost money, time, and energy. At a certain point, even the best of us begin to feel demoralized. So I feel for lots of these small businesses. Whether we wanna believe it or not, these train show events are essentially "small businesses". So this can't be an easy run. And now it would see that some are closing up shop through all of 2021. That's tough pill to swallow.
