Let's hope the industry goes to racking and stacking locomotive boards. That all locomotive board configurations get standardized in a manner they can be racked and stacked in this manner. That way, a guy can configure any brand of loco to work with any operating system he chooses using skills that are no more advanced than the skills it takes to swap out a SIM card in a cell phone. This would include an easy peasy diagnose tool that detects a blown board making it easy peasy for the average guy to service a dead engine. As it stands now, we are in world of confusion and incompatibility when it comes to operating systems. In too many cases, we are paying half what the engine cost to service a dead engine. Absolutely ridiculous and utterly crazy. You don't grow the hobby this way.
