Wood we have surpassed your total looking at Doug’s videos. We hook them up to the tv; it sure beats tv programming, especially the news.. I recognize the CAT building but you get the credit for that one. It is fabulous.
Thanks Andy. Yard work this AM to beat the rain. Then shelves and roundhouse. Doc Holden called earlier; he is bored but isn’t coming here till this is over. So much for help.

Layout Test Today finished the left and right side walls except for paint touch up and weathering. Page 9 of 38 done. Rear wall next and it looks complicated. Held it up on the layout. Looks fine so far.

Plaster Repair Lesson Some days you win, some days you lose. Plaster has a unique characteristic, push on it the wrong way and it breaks. We had been really careful and had no problems... until I was removing some thin plaster that was intentionally left in place to provide strength until we were ready to complete the doors. We were ready to work on doors so out came the exacto knife and I slowly cut along the white plaster. It did great; Until there was a quiet noise and Uh oh, Dennis warned about this happening at some point. Get out the J B Weld and put it back together. Touch up paint when we do more walls. No harm done. And we are ready to build the doors.

Great save Bill. Thank you for the detailed explanation of the brick painting. I may give that a try. You're doing great - keep going!

Construction Crane Arrives Suffolk Iron Works is going to be erecting the roundhouse. They brought in their crane today. It is a new type that can be moved in and set up in less than a day. It can span from front to back okay but can’t span but five of the seven stalls at one time Attachments:

Looks sturdy enough to handle the heavy load of those walls and roof. Good job, Bill.

Instructions and Dennis Brennan Attention to Detail... Excellent It has been an interesting week. We keep discovering more instructions. We started with 35, actually there are six more pages but they are not numbered. Then we read page ten and the first line said, “ATTENTION: If you ordered the Roundhouse Extension STOP HERE - SEE step 3 on the EXTENSION ASSEMBLY SHEET for the specific details BEFORE DOING ANYTHING ELSE. Okay Dennis you have my attention. And we started looking. We went thru everything three times before I called Dennis. “We can’t find the EXTENSION ASSEMBLY SHEET.” He apologized profusely and we had them by e-mail in less than five minutes. There were three pages so that made a total of 44. While searching for the EXTENSION ASSEMBLY SHEET I found in the big box of stuff a plastic page protector with 11 pages headed, Assembly Instructions for the Laser Cut Window and Door Assemblies, Window Sash Assembly, Clerestory Assembly, Employee Doors, Employee Door Wall, and Stall Doors ( Option). So we have 55 pages of information that includes instructions, parts lists, etc. These are the most complete instructions that I have ever had seen except for a kit that we got from Sierra West Scale Models. Brett Gallant produces simply amazing kits and we learned more from him about modeling than anyone else. Check Sierra West out if you have not. Don’t misunderstand me, Dennis’s kits are excellent and his instructions superb. I should have explained a couple of things earlier. First, Dennis’s basic roundhouse kit has three stalls. Additional pairs of stalls can be added. We ordered two pairs for a total of seven stalls. Second, a regular three stall roundhouse will hold a normal scale O gauge engine. An extension can be added in three different lengths, max 7.25” which will comfortably hold a Y6B, Allegheny, Big Boy, etc. We have a number of articulated and want the full extension. So I read the EXTENSION KIT INSTRUCTIONS and then page 10 of the main instructions. They involve seven rear walls and the extension kit which has three more walls, all of which have to be modified to the correct size. Basically it was a repeat of what we did on the side walls For the rear ones, just more of it. Clean up, sand, paint, attach concrete pieces. Do the same for 2 of the extension walls after removing the pillar from the ends (plaster cuts). The third wall will be cut into what Dennis calls a “jog wall,” The length of this is determined when all walls are erected on the layout. There is a gap on each side and it will vary a bit thus the jog walls are the last pieces and are cut to fit. A picture of the rear walls follows. They have not been attached yet. The next step is to assemble and add the windows and doors and it is easier to manage the individual sections when doing that. Not a lot to see for a week’s work. The extension walls are not included. Attachments:
